He was solid.

I don't think anyone is going to complain about his start.

Are you really killing a kid for allowing 3 runs and 3 hits in 5 IP In his first ever start?

I think he's just making a joke with his name.
So far he's the best NY pitcher for this series. At least he gave the Yanks a "Chance".

The bats are the problem. At least in the last 2 games.

Odds are good, but I remember 1978.

I don't, but luckily I was born 13 years after.

This year's squad is also 7 games better than the '78 Sox were through the first 112 games (71-41).

Yeah. No doubt about that. 2 Sox starters combined for 17 innings 4 hits and 1 earned run. You aren't going to win a lot of games with that sort of production.

No Judge and no Sanchez really hurts the Yankees lineup and Torres has clearly hit some sort of wall.

the last two games, but they were hitting .276/.338/.443 with 115 runs in 22 games over the last 28 days (that doesn't include today's game). That's just over 5 runs per game.

The Yankees rotation had a fairly rough July (4.41 ERA) and struggled badly the first three days of August.

The Yankees’ struggles are by design

The Sox wound up winning 99 that year. I think it would be shocking if this Sox team doesn't win 100+ games.

I want the magic number at ZERO before I count out the Yanks. Their lineup, especially healthy, scares me.

Even .500 ball gets them to 103-59.

The 1978 Sox also had a pretty poor July (13-15) though they followed it up with a good August (19-10), followed by a 14-15 September. They finished that month with an 8-game winning streak just to get that mark close to .500 and force the one-game playoff.

The 2018 squad's worst month so far was an 18-11 month. The '78 Sox had three months worse than that.

agreed, it's not over. But damn is it nice to have a nice 7.5+ game cushion pending tomorrow night's result.

As of right now
If Boston wins 50%, NY has to win 66%
If Boston wins 60%, NY has to win 75%
If Boston wins 65%, NY has to win 79%
If Boston wins 70%, NY has to win 85%
