He needs to play everyday, so I think he's a Railrider to start.

Shame, I like that dude, I hope they dont force a trade with him for some C+ level pitcher, I could see that happening

Red Thunder! LOL

I like him too, but if Hicks keeps progressing, they're going to have a decision to make. I could see him as part of a package to bolster the rotation come the deadline.

yeah, Ive kinda accepted the fact that he's a goner, just dont want every single trade, no matter how minor, include him

Like this seasons Jamie Garcia, "Oh yeah just take Frazier"

Well, they gave up arguably the best reliever in baseball to get him, so I'd like to think they'd expect some real value back for him. It's also a fact that this is Gardner's last year under contract, so you never know.

He says he wasn't asked all winter to waive his NTC, which kind of shocks me.

Cashman moves in mysterious ways.
Does Cashman own a small boat? He should "Fredo" Ellsbury.....

A few weeks ago, PECOTA had the Yanks winning the division by 9 games, now I see it's down to 8.

So JDM is worth only 1 win?

Color me skeptical.
$110M for 1 extra win.....Where do I sign up?

Drury is nothing special. Hopefully the Yankees use him as a stopgap at 2nd or 3rd until the rookies are ready for the majors.

Nothing special is still light years ahead of Taylor Wade.

PECOTA has some really weird ones sometimes. Look at the 2015 Royals (pretty sure they had them at 90 losses) and they love to overrate the Rays (I think they projected them to win the divsion in 2015 and 2016).

I feel like the Fangraphs DC projections are a little more realistic.

and for all the payroll the Rays have cut, they only project to win one fewer game than last year per Fangraphs. Not sure I agree with their offense being on par with last year, I think it could be considerably worse. Of course, their pitching staff could be better than last year's especially if Honeywell has a good rookie year IMO. either way, 85 wins from BP seems like too much.

what they got

Yankees acquired INF Brandon Drury from the Diamondbacks as part of a three-team trade.

New York is sending second base prospect Nick Solak to the Rays and right-handed pitching prospect Taylor Widener to the Diamondbacks. Arizona will also get outfielder Steven Souza from Tampa Bay. Drury has long been of interest to the Yankees and figures to open the 2018 season as their starting third baseman, allowing prospect Miguel Andujar to get a little more seasoning in the minor leagues. Drury also has a lot of experience at second base and some in the corner outfield. He flashed decent power in Arizona and could carry deep-league fantasy value in the Bronx. The 25-year-old is under control through 2021.

what they gave up

Rays acquired 2B Nick Solak from the Yankees as part of a three-team trade.

Solak, a second-round pick in 2016 out of the University of Tennessee, slashed .297/.384/.452 with 12 home runs and 14 stolen bases in 130 games last season between High-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton. Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times says the 23-year-old will report to the major league side of Rays camp and join the competition for the starting second base job.

Diamondbacks acquired RHP Taylor Widener from the Yankees as part of a three-team trade.

The main headlines of this deal: Steven Souza is heading to the Diamondbacks and Brandon Drury is going to the Yankees. Widener, a 12th-round pick in 2016 out of the University of South Carolina, has registered a promising 2.68 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 188/57 K/BB ratio over his first 157 2/3 professional innings. The 23-year-old right-hander finished the 2017 season in High-A ball.
