I kind of figured that the Sox would go 3/$75-80 for Flaherty and that he would have been a good fit. Is Buehler even an upgrade over Pivetta? I’m not sure. I do know that the Sox have gone the cheap route this offseason yet again, however.

There is no way that the price for 1 year of Cease is Casas, Abreu and Mayer. That is absurd and you should disregard whatever source fed you that nonsense forever.
It came from The Sporting News

just throwing it out there for fun.

Red Sox need a right handed bat... or two...
They should probably just give Teoscar the 3/$75m(or so) that it would take to get him signed. They dicked around with him last Winter and he ended up with the Dodgers instead. They really could use his bat in the lineup.

FWIW…Consensus from my Yankee-fan side of the family at Christmas is that the Yankees are better off without Soto and that Cashman is having a brilliant offseason.

The rotation and bullpen have definitely been upgraded. The offense is certainly not better off!

They are counting on one more big piece like a Bregman or Santander to help on offense, maybe. But they all love the pitching.

Was this surprising to you?

I agree about cashman and i'm almost there on the first part depending on the next few moves they make. They need another bat for me to get to that point

Well, when I saw them at Thanksgiving they were 95% certain that Soto was coming back and that the Judge/Soto tandem would lead to multiple titles. So they’ve had a curveball thrown at them where that is concerned.

Note: My brother-in-law said all along that he preferred not to give Soto the zillion dollar contract and focus on 3-4 pieces instead with the same $$. The rest were all-in with Soto.
