Jimenez has now allowed 5.62 walks per 9 IP, on pace for 115 in 182.2 innings.

You know if Dougie was a O's fan there would be nothing wrong with that walk rate. Just like Verlander is still the ace on track for a CYA with 7.62 ERA

Nice performance by De La Rosa today (7 innings, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB. 7 K's, 100 pitches). Unfortunately, Chavez himself had a pretty good game, but he got bailed out of the loss by Pedroia scoring on a wild pitch.

Hope he stays in the rotation. Workman should be too, but I wouldn't be surprised if both get shafted in favor of Doubront. At this point, Douby should be in the bullpen.

A's are hands down the best team in the AL but after that I have no idea who is 2nd best as those teams are pretty even

It's tied at 1, bottom of the 10th. Mujica's pitching though, so it may as well be an A's win.

Boston Red Sox vs. Oakland Athletics - Box Score - June 21, 2014 - ESPN

Chavez had a no-no going through 5 innings and lost it in the top of the 6th when Holt singled to lead off the inning. Jesse Chavez is 8th in the AL in ERA. Who would have thought?

Lol

Sox now 11-17 in one-run games this year. 21-21 last year. Meanwhile, that team was 33-13 in blowouts. This year, 6-7 in blowouts. Farrell sucks.

But in typical Oakland A's fashion they'll somehow get eliminated in the ALDS

I'd say the top 3 right now are Oak, LA Angels, and NY Yankees

I still believe the Red Sox will start hitting better than they have. But they could use a little help in the OF (Gomes and Nava are fine as long as they're used in a platoon) and at catcher. It would be nice if Pedroia got hot (in all actuality, he's still been a very valuable player, putting up a 102 OPS+ and providing excellent defense up the middle, but he's having his worst offensive year since 2006) and Napoli started hitting for more power (though at least he's getting on base, he's 10th in the AL in OBP). Douchezinski's batting an empty .263 and Ross looks toast. Too early to give up on Bradley, but he hasn't shown any improvement at the plate and continues to strike out a lot. His defense has been the only saving grace.

I have a feeling they'll start hitting a little too late, much like the 2013 Nationals. Nats didn't really start hitting until early/mid-August, and by then, they were in a deep hole in the playoff race.

I'm not opposed to the Sox selling either. Pierzynski, Peavy, Breslow and Gomes should definitely be on the block.

Peavy seems like a brand name (he's been around so damn long!) and, if the right bidder and the right package came along, I could see that. His stats seem above his career norms this year and if the Sox were a little closer, I as a fan would probably want to keep him. The Sox are in this really weird place now, along with the Yankees, where they seem to be transitioning (don't read that as "rebuilding") and it's difficult to guage how far along they are with that, unlike most teams.

Definitely, man. The field is wide open this year. The only teams that don't seem to have a shot at sneaking in are TB, Texas and Houston, and 2 out of 3 of that is due to devastating injuries. Beyond that, I'm not writing anyone off of getting atleast a wildcard at this juncture.

It's really bizarre. Except with possibly the Tigers and Angels, I don't see anyone not playing up to their potential. They just are what they are.. pretty good teams, hovering around the .500 mark. It's a lot of fun to keep tabs on, if not a little frustrating if you're a fan of a certain team *cough cough*.
