3 of their best prospects

Best pitching prospect, probably the best OF prospect, and a red hot Matteo, who has always been a big prospoect for them

Fowler and Kaprielian are hurt. There's plenty of risk. Besides, Fowler might be blocked at the big league level anyway. I think the Yanks did very well for a mid-rotation starter under control for 2.5 years.

Still have nothing on my Dodgers though

They loved kaperlin, thats the big blow for me, he is expected back next season, like every other pitcher that returns from TJ....I just heard Matteo was red hot since his promotion, so maybe that was overall, and not so much his last few.....And again, they loved Fowler, and Im not sure thats a career injury

This just sounds to me like a Chris Sale type offer, and not a decent #2 or 3 starter package
Sale took the 1st and 12th best prospects. Yankees sent the 77th and two guys out of the top 100. That's a good deal by Cashman, hate to say it.

Was hearing that yesterday........Their offense is the only strength, and Trumbo going on the DL wont help

Too late, they assembled that team with no regard for pitching

I'm not sure I'd even call that a strength. They have power, but they're towards the bottom of the AL in OBP. Their wRC+ is barely better than the Red Sox.

It's also not going to help us that four out of the six starters are going to be free agents in the offseason and really don't have anyone down in Norfolk that's worthy of pitching on a big league roster.

Red Sox are now just 1 game worse than they were through 108 games last year. But, last year they were only 0.5 game up on Detroit for the 2nd wild card spot, and 2 games back of Baltimore and Toronto for the division. They were also 1st in runs scored per game, and 11th in runs allowed. This year they are 7th in runs scored and 2nd in runs allowed.

Okay, that was probably the best Red Sox game in years.

And yet there's a 100x more bitching and moaning about this year's team.

After a fantastic campaign in Salem (.318/.388/.641, 17 HR), Michael Chavis is hitting .298/.352/.573 with 9 HR in 36 games at AA. It's also encouraging to see him cut down on the K's (from 22.8% at A+ to just 14.5% in AA). There's talk of the Sox using him as a trade chip, but why don't they see if he can play 1B? Travis has been pretty meh at AAA and I worry he doesn't have enough power to make him a viable 1B even though he hasn't looked too overwhelmed at the major league level (granted its 50 PA).

Probably due to expectations. Last year they were coming off two straight last place finishes.

Makes sense, I think the AL as a whole, and definitely the AL East was a lot stronger last season.....So the better team last season being on roughly the same pace as the weaker team this season, isnt all that shocking
