Bring in Clippard in a 8-2 game. 2 batters later it is now 8-4.

The Orioles have now allowed five or more runs in 18 straight games, the second-longest streak in the past 100 years. The 1924 Phillies did it in 20 consecutive games. :tsk:

Hopefully Dumpster Diving Dan decides to sell at the trade deadline instead of trying to go for it this year with this abysmal starting pitching staff.

Make that 19, and now head to Tampa to face a team on a roll.

Of course Baltimore will allow 4 runs or less next, just to miss the record which is the only interesting thing of the last month.

The record provides some sort of twisted enjoyment for Os fans.
The Os will likely screw that up as well.

The only teams that Baltimore can beat are the division teams (21-16). They really have a weird knack for beating the AL EAST and being helpless versus everyone else in the AL (6-17).

4 allowed in the first inning

1 more run allowed to take that coveted record of most games allowing 5 runs or more

5 runs allowed in the 2nd

If you are going to break a record, you might as well get it done early

20 straight games allowing at least 5 runs, most ever in the live ball integrated era

Tommorow they can eclipse the dead ball era/pre-integration record as well

Go OS!

I'm hoping this thing doesn't end until there are some serious changes made to this team, whether it's selling at the trade deadline, getting rid of Dumpster Dan (preferably) and/or something else.

Dan was able to put together a roster of non-stars and castoffs that has been competitive for a few years.
You can argue that this group wildly overachieved relative to their talent levels.

It was a fun 5 year run with high character likeable community active players without much egos.
They are just now 31 and 32 year old players....instead of 27 and 28 year old players.

It is not a dumpster fire of bad decisions at the major league level.
It is a franchise that cannot develop any players in the minor leagues.

The big league team is managed well. The Bush league teams have been embarassing for decades.
The ORIOLES minor leagues have been dead last in the league for nearly 30 years running.

I believe that the roster was a majority of Andy MacPhail's doing and what he did made things a lot easier for Dan. And while Dan has been here, he has filled in things by rule 5 and waiver wire transactions mostly. Also, when he does make trades, more often than not, they haven't worked out in our favor (I will defend the trade for Miller as he was a great addition). But most of those trades have killed our minor league teams (as evidenced by there being nobody in Norfolk that's close to being ready for the majors pitching wise). Sure, we've developed some guys here and there (Mancini being the most recent). The main problem is that while the most of the players from our minors that stick are offensive players. We haven't really developed a solid starter since Mussina. Bundy is still to be determined in my opinion.
But I think at this point, it's all catching up and you can't keep throwing these same five guys out there every night. It's demoralizing the offense night after night. Gausman just doesn't have it this year, Miley is starting to revert back into his usual self, Tillman I think came back too early, Ubaldo is Ubaldo and Bundy while being the best in the rotation, is starting to wear down it looks like and needs a break in the worst way. I think we need a selloff of just about everyone not named Bundy, Mancini and Sisco at this point and do what the Yankees did last year and retool and try to get ready for next year. Whether or not Dan would do that or is capable enough to get good value for these guys remains to be seen.

Now I'm concerned about the Yankees. 2-4 homestand vs the Angels and Rangers is a red flag IMO. Starters are pitching poorly and bats are now quiet.

You knew they'd eventually fall back to earth. Still think the team's for real and good enough to make the playoffs though. I wonder how this recent slide will affect them.

Yup, no one over .500 in the AL East in that span. Rays and Red Sox get the Orioles and Angels at home, both lose 2 out of 3.
