Tanaka quietly having a very good year.

Would be in the Cy Young discussion if he played on another team. The Yankees offense took quite a few wins away from him. Should have 15+ wins or so

Just did quick game log on Tanaka this year. He got a no decision after the following outings.

8 IP and 0 ER vs Baltimore
6.2 IP and 2 ER vs Boston
7 IP and 2 ER vs Tampa
7 IP and 2 ER vs LAA
6 IP and 0 ER vs SF

That's 5 starts where he should have gotten a win in at least 2 or 3 of them. Instead he did not get a win in any of those games. Simply unreal

Not sure what wins have to do with anything - Cy's have been won with 13, 15 and 16 wins in recent years. He can easily get to 15 W's by the end of the year.

I think he'll get votes, but overall there are others (Hamels in particular) who probably have the upper hand.

He still might be, considering Felix won a CYA with a 13-12 record (though he also led the AL in ERA; only Buchholz had a better ERA+, but he only pitched 173.2 innings). Voters put a lot more stock into advanced pitching stats than they did a decade ago. His FIP/xFIP rank among the best starting pitchers in the AL, and he ranks among the top 10 in both WARs (leads AL per Fangraphs, though I'm not buying that Hamels has been worth only 2.7 wins).

I'd go with Hamels right now, but I don't think he's the obvious choice by any means. Kluber/Sale/Tanaka/Quintana/etc aren't far behind. I just can't see a relief pitcher winning anymore, even with how underwhelming the starting pitchers are. Look at Kimbrel and Rivera.

Nine straight batters reach base. Seven straight hits. It was nice to see a big inning like that from the Yankees offense.

Just need to get Judge out of his slump.
