Good point. It just seemed to me like a weird landing spot for him.

Definitely caught me off guard too earlier today when I read about it.

But yeah when you think more about it now, it gives them something to build with in off season now.

Or they could turn around and trade him to the Twins in the next 14 hours. :D

I really don't get this one from San Diego's perspective. Why would you give up Franmil Reyes, Logan Allen and Victor Nova for Taylor Trammell (who is having a pretty underwhelming year)? Absolutely baffling. Franmil's also hit 43 home runs in 186 MLB games... in San Diego!

It has been the most perplexing trade deadline in a while between what you referenced and the Stroman to Mets move.

Best player in the deal, at least right now. Puig will get the headlines, Reyes will be the more important player.

Yeah reyes will provide a deadly bat for them.

Pretty sure he’s a complete stiff in the field tho

Allen came into the season in the top 100 rankings and he's struggled in his first MLB season (and AAA, but I can't put too much stock into PCL pitching struggles). He was also a 50 FV on Fangraphs. The Pads do have a lot of good pitching prospects, but I think he's a more intriguing prospect than Trammell (who has a sub-.700 OPS and may not even play in CF).

probably won't be a better hitter than Franmil.

Gonna see more of Santana at 1B, which is fine, and Reyes at DH. Got another deadly arm to go with Naquin too in the outfield. They definitely got a lot more power in this lineup from this trade.

Agree....would have thought if giving up Reyes SD would be getting Bauer.

They did get the Reds #1 prospect, most think he will be a star, but seems to be struggling this year though.

and no doubt he might....but guessing better prospects than he is have failed.

Not saying he will, just thinking when a team deals a guy as young and talented as Reyes they are the ones who get the guy like Bauer.

Yasiel Puig got in a brawl for his last game in cincinnati.

He might be a little crazy.
