Understatement of the night by the Tigers announcers:

"Victor Martinez doesn't run very well on 1st base" :laugh3:

He just got done in his 1st AB hitting a ball down the 3rd base line into the corner and most players could have backpedaled into 2nd base. Martinez didn't even attempt to go for a double.

I know it's overused by dougie, but JV did show some HEART out there. He didn't have his best stuff after six days off, had a bad third inning, but then threw four more scoreless frames to keep his team in it. And on a night when he K'd only four batters, he saved his best two curveballs for last -- striking out Semien and Eaton with a guy on third to keep the game tied.

The announcers also said at the start of the game that the Tigers and White Sox are the two best-hitting teams in the AL. I was like, whaaa--??

Well, I checked and the Tigers do lead the AL with a .273 batting average, while the Sox are second at .272. But the Sox lead the AL in runs scored (153), while the Tigers are 12th (99). The White Sox have played more games, so the runs-per-game are a bit closer (5.5 to 4.5). The big difference is home runs -- 32 for the Sox and only 18 for the Tigers. And of course, despite those 5.5 runs per game, the Sox are only a .500 team (14-14), which tells you where their pitching is probably ranked.

it's adorable when you and dougy argue.

Verlander did a good job adapting. But outside of one or two starts, he hasn't looked particularly impressive. He's not striking guys out (K/9's down from 8.95 in 2013 to just 6.98 this year) and his walk rate's kinda high (3.38). Maybe it's from the injury?

Verlander has historically not been good in April, so we'll take 3-1, a 2.48 ERA and 5-of-6 quality starts. He usually still strikes guys out in April, though, and I agree that the walk rate concerns me. He's on pace to walk 80+ batters this season. He walked 75 last year despite pitching his fewest innings (218.1) since 2008. In his best years (2011 and 2012), he walked only 57 and 60 while averaging 244 innings. So yes, I sure hope his free passes decrease some this year.

ON or TO, lol

Interesting stat today, Max 0 complete games in career, would have NEVER guessed that, had to even double check the announcers....he has finished 2 games though, lol

im still not over Leyland taking him out against the red sox in the playoffs. worst betting day of my life. had 200 on tigers and 200 on the saints earlier in the day. that's the game where brady threw the bomb in the endzone to win the game as time expired..

tigers sweep the white sox!
scherzer 6 scoreless innings. plus 7 Ks. that's at least 7 Ks in his first 6 starts this year. a new tiger record.

give it up to me!!! I went on record and said scherzer will be just as good this year as he was last year. or even better. a few of you didn't see it. said he will have a drop off. some said he would drop off a little some said a lot.
whats supriseing to me...after I show you guys over and over my vast baseball knowledge ..you still doubt me...... People People People!!!

after a razor sharp spring training... he came out looking sharp.

yesterday he had 1 bad inning. keep us in the game. as noted by truth..he had his start delayed..
He will have a great year. Verlander and Scherzer. the best 1 2 punch in all of MLB!

Went to the Royals game tonight, in shorts, HUGE mistake...but a nice win...

Noticing Infante keeps hitting with RISP, he might be worth the extra 5 million over Boni, cause he seems to be more clutch than anyone else so far this year...had a great bunt tonight when needed also.

Wild have too much talent.

See our young stars actually score big goals. Coyle 3 goals. Nino 2 tonight(game winner) and Granlund 2 goals with a game winner.

Wait til we get Vanek lol
