If you really want to, I guess we can. The Tigers won the AL Central the last 3 years and they were the AL Champs in 2006 and 2012.

Alright -- now it is your turn.

White Sox, Twins, Royals all with championships since the Tigers last championship...should be a more complete answer to yours...but I am hating...

Not to nitpick, but Maybin and Miller were ranked the #6 and #10 prospects in all of baseball at the time of the trade. Plus DeLaCruz and Trahern who were both top ten in the Tigers organization. And then Badenhop and Rabelo. Not sure what Buxton or any of the other prospects in Minnys organization are ranked, but that trade had a ton of expected/anticipated value headed to the Marlins at the time. (LA offered Kershaw, Kemp and a throw in. Boston had Elsbury and change on the table. Detroits offer trumped those, somehow.).

Buxton is #1

yes 3 straight AL Central titles don't mean nuttin!!
Twin fan don't want to be bothered with post season play...right?

I rather like the yearly ALCS. I plan few vacation days for it. This year I will have to burn a few for the world series

You'll have to leave the state of Michigan to attend a game but hey that's still cool...

I wont argue anything you said however off the top of my head I cant think of a prospect the Tigers have had that compares to Buxton

Cameron Maybin was a 'can't miss prospect'. He was a 5 tool player they were calling a right handed version of Ken Griffey Jr. He only spent 111 games in Triple A -- He hit .340 with 25 doubles, 10 triples, 9 homeruns and 67 RBI's.

Once he got to the MLB though -- he never really panned out. In the minor leagues -- he was a .300+ hitter, with an OBP of roughly .400. In the MLB, he has been a .250 hitter, with an OBP of .310.

That is what makes me skeptical of prospects. Some players can make the adjustments necessary at the next level, others cannot. Until they show they can make those adjustments and put up those numbers against the best -- they are just prospects.

Would I love to have someone like Buxton in our minor league system? Absolutely. Detroit has a prospect who put up numbers similiar to Buxton, while playing in the same leagues. Look up Devon Travis. He hit .351 with 16 homeruns and 76 rbi's, with 25 stolen bases -- he also had 28 doubles and 4 triples. This is from a 2nd baseman.

I wouldn't hold my breath on him putting up numbers anywhere remotely close to this as he moves up though. The guy wasn't even on any prospect list coming into the season. The actually had him as the #43 best prospect in the Tigers system before 2013.

He was only #27 back then. Just a lanky lefty with some weird mechanics.

Yeah, Buxton's the consensus #1 guy. As excited as I am about Bogaerts, Buxton's easily the better prospect right now.

I think the next two years will tell for Miggy. If he can stay healthy and get 180H/yr, that would give him around 2350 at age 32. That would give him at least 6 years to get the other 650 and I believe he would do that.

Egh, maybe. It'll be tough. That big body might not age well. Not sure who has the better shot, Miggy or Pujols.

I don't know about Pujols he's already showing signs of decline and he's 653 hits away. And is he really 34?

3000 is just a number. number of hits.
the stat geeks will tell you only WAR matters..even though they have no idea what WAR really is.

Miggy>pujols. that's has been already decided over and over again.

but true..because a coupe pencil geeks have decided the twins have a couple prospects in there farm system..that means the Twins will now only finish 28 games behind the Tigers yearly instead of 30 games

Since the Lions could have matched the Broncos' performance today, in a small way, they should feel like they went to the SB!

I guess you could also say they won. How many former Lions are on the Seahawks?
