If you think Davis who is 33 years old and has never really played a full season and has a career OBP of .316 is what will bring the Tigers a title I think you might be a bit off.

So it's a what if with Jaba? What if he gets hammered and has an ERA around 6.00 all year. I don't understand thinking about 2 or 3 years from now, who knows what can happen in those years, you have to try and win now.

The Twins didn't really "get rid" of Cuddyer, he signed elsewhere, it happens and the Twins were going nowhere, I really wasn't too sad to see him go and wish him the best.

He is a platoon guy. He is a pinch runner. Who else was available? I keep hearing the knock on Davis but what was left that Detroit could get in FA not named Choo? Detroit doesn't have a lot of trade chips so it's unlikely a team would just give away a .300 hitter that can run.

As for the what if with Joba he has had a track record of success. I get what Dave D is thinking. The same the Twins GM was thinking when he signed Hughes. They will return to their average or norm. As I said he wasn't my first choice.

As for Peralta he missed 50 games. His 2011 season was outside the norm as well. Contract year maybe or PEDs but he has never had a consistent bat. The Indians gave up oh him pretty cheap. He is a limited range guy with a average offensive game.

lost, yes, not a shocker...off season, negative nancy...regular season, don't understand why the AL All Star team can't just be listed on the Tigers schedule as another away game.

Joba is already better than Coke and AA and could be Rondon...Joba at 2.5 mil could be a steal of a deal..(anything would to get Coke and AA back to the minors or picked up by Houston)

Agree with most of that post, bums, but did you know that Hunter set a career high in at-bats last season (606)? Until he shows me any sign of breaking down physically, I'd expect we can get 140+ games out of him.

Look, gang, one of the most frequent complaints about the Tiger team of 2013 was (1) they are station-to-station on the bases, and (2) their infield defense has no range. They've upgraded SS and 2B in both speed AND defense, and upgraded LF at least in terms of speed. You can't have it both ways. Speed/power/defense guys like Mike Trout are not very plentiful, so you have to give and take.

Dirks was injured and had a bad year so their isn't much on the roster but I doubt you even knew who was on the tigers roster or your just trolling or get you baseball knowledge from your girlfriend.

As for Joba 2007 a sub 1 era in 24 innings.

2008 2.31 era in 35 innings

2009 was a starter

2010-2013 he was bad but injury prone. The guy is a 7th inning setup guy. But in your mind everyone should be an all star on a team. The guy took a 1 year deal to setup. Most guys wanted more cash and a chance to close.
