Would love to have grandy back.....hes not the same anymore but hes always going to be a favorite of mine.....anything to get mandy dirks out of LF.

Good way to get people in the rest of the ALC to shit their pants is to sign Choo and have him leadoff.

I think choo is gona be a bust for how much he seems to be going for. He's already 32. If his walks/hbp drop then what? He has decent power but doesn't hit for crazy average and is poor on d with great arm.

Could be a good signing for two years but idk about 5

Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal Follow Sources: #Royals have not offered Beltran $48 million for three years. To get to that level, ownership likely would need to intervene.

If it wasn't the Royals... Who the hell did offer him that contract? Mariners?

How often does that happen? Usually if you were to see any material decline in a player's mid 30s, it would be in the average and/or power department, but not so much in walk rates.

Here's a list of a few guys who played at least their late 30s and I'll compare their walk/plate appearance rates from their mid 30s (say ages 33-37) to earlier years (ages 27-32)....first few are Yankees since they're the first that come to mind being a Yankee fan...

Jeter - 8.8% walk rate from age 27-32, 8.4% from age 33-37
Giambi - 17% from age 27-32, 16.5% from age 33-37
Damon - 9.4% from age 27-32, 10.3% from age 33-37

Helton - 15.7% from age 27-32, 14.8% from age 33-37
Frank Thomas - 16.8% from 27-32, 15.4% from 33-37

And you can go on and on....so walk rates aren't something that tends to decline significantly with age (up to a point).

If the tigers were to sign choo, it would balance their lineup.....but as of now the tigers lineup is weak.....walk miggy and who beats you? Vmart with his 10-15 HR power? The prospect nicky c? Avila? Ajax? Iggy? Dirks?

We have lost fielder fister peralta infante benoit.....and added kinsler, kroll, nicky c and nathan.....weve definitely downgraded.....but one good LF and another BP piece and i would feel better.

why does sparty always worry what the wolverines are doing????

Tiger have to be going to make another deal. letting fister go just to free up money doesn't wash.
y hope we dont get Beltran. let KC get that washed up bum. he will fit in nic3ly down there.
cleves cleves..... stop with the sparty karma!! Tigers will WIN the Central.
we are the HEART and Power of this division

Wtf? I don't give a shit how often it happens. Its not relevant to Choo at all. He is going to get paid a TON of money when in reality he really isn't that good. He can walk/get beaned that is really it. Decent pop, can't field.

The guys you provided are all hall of fame caliber players outside of Damon.

Sharks with a rare loss last night. Not often you see that.

Wild with a huge win though. Great game.

Hahah pretty good shit.

I think dougy knows deep down that Michigan is tumbling.

Maybe they will hang with the gophers in hockey this year??

Well, with Cano to SEA, I highly doubt Illitch is able to outbid the Yankees for Choo which makes you wonder who is in LF for DET. Dirks?

According to DD its most likely going to be dirks. Hoping for a season like 2012 out of him.....too many if's this year....if dirks hits....if nicky c can hit MLB pitching....if rondon can handle the set up.....if and who will be our LH reliever in the clutch? Kroll or coke? If max can repeat.....if miggy can stay healthy and not get walked a ton.....if vmart can handle batting cleanup with hardly any power and speed of a turtle.....if the BP can get it to nathan....

Feel alot better with a proven LF and more BP help.....hell would even take mcclouth....dont want mandy dirks

Bullpen is THE priority. An up-and-coming youngster in LF would be fine for me, if we upgraded our bullpen.
