It figures Cleveland finally has a rejuvenated year once the MLB introduces the new learning disabled "playoff" platform.

Last year was the first year they did that, and i agree...its dumb.

They still need some depth, but Kluber, Salazar, a rejuvinated Ubaldo and Masterson (whom the Tigers hit well, but no one else seems to) are the start of a pretty nice rotation. Kazmir finished strong, too.

IMO, Masterson was in the CY Young conversation up until he faced the Tigers in that four game series in Cleveland.

facing him in gane 1 of the world series wont be fun.
BUt facing Grienke in game 2 will be easier. He cant handle the pressure. he will fold

Greinke did just fine tonight (he got the loss, but that has more to do with the Braves pitching and Withrow). Pulling him for Michael Young was dumb. Greinke had just over 80 pitches, he's a pretty decent hitter (at least this year, he had an OPS+ of 126 this year), and it's not like Michael Young's a good hitter anymore.

Scherzer was great tonight. retired 16 of the first 18
one mistake to that Cuban LFer..he hit it good to.
that man at first was a cheap infield hit that Iggy almost made a great play on...

Miggy doesn't look right..not at all. not good...not good

1 bad inning for colon. 1 bad pitch for Scherzer. The bad inning was a little worse.

And thats why i hate the one game wild card. It doesnt do justice as the team with the better starting pitcher is more likely to win the game. They play 162 games and earn a fuckin playoff spot only to be ousted after one game. Hate it.

a team could win a few more games, like 3, during the regular season (like the 3 they would have to win in a 7 game series to win) and wouldn't been in a 1 game series...

They added an extra WC spot, they should just be happy to get the one game...since they shouldn't have even added a 2nd WC spot to begin with.

tough lose for the Tigers tonight.
Verlander pitched a gem. a gem. so did that Oakland kid.
BUT,,,,, Tigers have a way of letting other pitchers look like Cy Young.
not taking away from that kid. BUT Tigers offense is offensive.
they have scored since the first inning in game 1 !!!!!!
listening to the game on radio at work.
I knew I KNEW Oakland would win this game in the ninth.
Got to question Leyland..why did AL AL go out again? and why not pull him after the hit to cepades??? he was only throwing breaking/slider/sleve pitch and they started hitting it.

Tiger took 1 of 2. cant cry about it, game 2 was up for grabs.we would have been such good shape if we were up 2-0.

Now up to the ERA leader...A Sanchez to get us a win AT HOME where he pitches his best.

Idk why they call the 1 game playoffs a playoffs game? It is not a playoffs game. It is a play in game to make it to the playoffs. If they want it to be a playoffs game how about you make it a best of 3?

Both best of 3 series should be played MON-WED with the first game starting a little after 5 and the other starting at 830. This is baseball, they're used to playing every day. So you play the best of 3 on those 3 days and you let them start their series on Friday while on Thursday you have a doubleheader of the 2 matchups between the 2nd and 3rd seeds. Baseball makes things way more complicated than they need to be.

This is the only sport (of the sports where you play an actual series in the playoffs) where your team can make the "playoffs" but yet you as a fan may not have the pleasure of seeing them play a home playoff game if they lose that road 1 game playoffs game as the reds did.

Do you guys really think Reds fans feel like they made the playoffs this year?

What a game in Oakland. Always knew gray was a stud but shit was he nasty. Made Ajax his bitch. JV continued to make the As his bitch as well. Vogt was technically the "hero" but god that guy sucks at baseball. Nice to see him finally hit the ball. Had to see Al losing the game, he's off this year and As won't forget that kissing incident.

Wasn't surprised to see it being a shut out. Bucknor was behind home. Just atrocious. At least he's consistently bad and so it's not a game where 1 team gets boned.
