Dude, all hitters have larger slumps and hot streaks under the age of 24 to 25 yrs old....every one in HISTORY of baseball....of course Hosmer is having them, he is 23 yrs old...

Really? Everyone? I don't have to look past one player and prove you wrong. Mike Trout.

there have been PLENTY of players who ranked higher with less HR's...are you saying that Adam Dunn is more valuable 1b than Hosmer....give me a break...

Now you are being dumb -- I just listed RBI's, OBP, Slug %, OPS, extra base hits, etc. and you want to harp on HRs.

Tell me the statistical categories that make Hosmer the better player?!?!

It is what it is, you can't have the best player in the majors at every position, that would be called an All Star team and not even the yankees or dodgers with their payrolls can pull that off...

I have never said Detroit has the best player at every position. I just said Fielder was better than Hosmer and it is a no-brainer. KC has a few guys I would love to have -- Alex Gordon in LF, Sal Perez behind the plate, James Shields in the rotation.

How is that proving me wrong, I said most and also even stated there are always exceptions to the rules....the guy hasn't played more than 3 years....look at HISTORY not Trout Goldschmidt, hosmer...look at ACTUAL great hitters and good hitters PROVEN in HISTORY...

I can find ANYTHING also to prove anything you say wrong too, you really don't get it do you...but hey, not everyone can.

I agree with you for the first time, its a No Brainer Fielder is better than Hosmer...if you don't use your brain, Fielder is better...

but...well Bleacher Report as well as many others disagree, but, trustyouyourrightinyourworld.

Escobar is even ranked around 10 to 18 spots higher, at many sources, higher than Enrique Ingelses....

the Entire Royals bullpen, other than Mendoza and pick one, would be an upgrade over every bullpen pitcher Detroit has...if you keep Smyly and Benoit for the two subtracted.

Santana would rank as #3 on the Tigers staff, statistically also

I agree, you combine the Royals and Tigers and you have the best team in baseball, thats more than fair.

I'm still waiting to hear how statistically Hosmer is having a better year in your mind?!?! I'd love to know your thought process.

I'll pass -- too inconsistent for me. I suppose if we don't take Shields, I'd take Santana as our #5 starter.

definitely pass -- he has a .265 OBP this year. that is downright pathetic for an everyday starter.

I'd rather have Bruce Chen than Santana. But he'd be my long reliever/6th starter/bullpen lefty. Close to zero interest in Ervin. Short deal or not, he's not reliable season to season. And has little to no upside. This season was as good as it gets with ES.

well, I read the Escobar ranked ahead of Enrique by 18 spots in a Pre 2014 ranking already...don't worry, I never make anything up....just use actual information.

its not in my "mind", its actually baseball statistics and people...dude, I even gave you one of the websites and you STILL are wondering....they believe HOSMER 7th...FIELDER 10th...

I can't help you understand it much more...but hey, time will tell who is correct...good luck with it...I will stick to my view...

Fielder, Prince 1B DET
598 79 170 110 36 0 24 105 72 115 1 1 0.28430.36660.464939Hosmer, Eric 1B KC
589 81 179 128 32 3 16 77 50 94 11 4 0.30390.35710.449942

ok, so,

Hosmer, more runs, more hits, more singles, more triples, more SBs, less strikeouts, higher average....

Fielder more doubles, more HR, more RBI, more walks, higher OBP, higher SLG

That would be 7 catagories to 6 catagories, hosmer

(that is NOT including tonights game with Fielder's Single and Hosmer's HR)

If you want to add more categories...let me know, GDP, CS percentage, etc...

THE entire point was Fielder and Hosmer are statistically next to each other, almost exactly in actual value...if you were to take 1 from today for this season, taking Fielder as a no brainer, is just that, a no brain used...Hosmer season is no different in value than Fielders...you could put both names in a hat and get the same valued player this season, beyond, its NOT even close if you want to throw out speculative opinions, Hosmer is the easy choice.

edit...those numbers were above and below each other on my page...sorry.

hey, stroking Tigers fans fragile egos and beliefs can still be done in the Detroit Tigers thread though.
