That was the worst game defensively we could of played and Shields was on. He has been awful this yr at home, but pitched great tonight. I expect Cleveland to come out more focused in game 2. At least Texas and Tampa are playing each other, still 1/2 back.

agree completely on Tex and TB...didn't notice it until about the 4th inning of the Royals game...thats nice for both Royals/Indians.

All the Tiger starting pitchers have stepped it up in crunch time. Tigers have won 5 of the last 6, and the only loss was 1-0. Six straight quality starts in which the starters have given up 1, 0, 3, 1, 1, 1. I don't care if the opponents have mediocre lineups, that's still very impressive this late in the season.

Gotta admit, the starting pitching has been solid all year long.....porcello with back to back great starts.

Magic number is 7!

Davis went the way of Joe Saunders. Didn't he used to be pretty good? Did a double-take when I saw the SEA-DET lineups yesterday his ERA was about 5.25. And that's playing half his games in a pitcher's park.

Only a pitchers park if the pitcher is a flyball pitcher, it is actually a slight hitters park if everything is neutral. It isn't a mistake that Santana and Guthrie were added.

Looking at the LD% from Davis, not even the best defense in over 10 years ( These Royals) according to the Fielding Bible can save Davis from utter suck.

Plus if Cleveland somehow got a WC and won the elimination game, right now it would be Boston-Cleveland, Oakland-Detroit.
