The idea of JV not being better than Santana in any year other than 08(idk what Santana season was like that year) seems like a stretch. Even in Verlanders worst season since then and ES current bounce(he's bounced higher than before he fell) back season. It's not really something Id add to any strong opinion. I wouldnt even do it with Fister, but I know I wouldn't do it with both.

Santana was better in 08 by a long shot and is better than him this year also....just FYI...for arguments sake.

Tribe went 4-15 against the Tigers. That's the main reason why they will watch from home this fall.

Yeah 08,..... but those THREE seasons with ERAs over 5 make him hard to take too seriously. And with his career ERA being about where Porcello is, at 24.....(I like that twice in his career his more Ks in a season than JV does right now...)... It's not really an argument.

The thing with Santana is his ERA is incredibly dependent on his HR/9 IP

He is a naturally volatile pitcher. Verlander is obviously a better pitcher when you use Career numbers. In the context of 2013 is far more debatable. I would be trolling if I said Santana's Career> Verlander
