And you are correct -- we will have to agree to disagree on Porcello, as well as your point that K's don't matter. If you are going to be a really good starter in the AL, you have to get swing and misses. You will see the occasional guys who will throw up good numbers and not strike out a lot of hitters, but the overwhelming majority of guys with 3.50 and under ERA's get strikeouts at a rate of 7.5 on up per 9.

When a pitcher can get strikeouts on a regular basis -- it is an AB where runners don't move up. If you are going to have a BAA against like Porcello -- you HAVE to get strikeouts to be a quality pitcher. That is the reason I've said for so long, unless he develops a strikeout pitch, he will stay where he is at and also why I think Smyly will actually be a better starting pitcher once he gets his shot in the rotation.

If RP is going to allow teams to hit .275-.285 against him, as a contact pitcher. His numbers are going to look the same they have been all along. It is just simple math.

I thought the Red Sox would win 81 games total this year. Nice to see them at that mark on September 1.

They had 83 wins entering September in 2011 and look how that ended up. Of course, this year's rotation is in better shape than it was in 2011.
