They were saying yesterday he dropped a pitch from his arsenal to concentrate more on the others. And its worked well.....forgot what pitch it was....slider?

He is throwing a curve now.. and he never used to...

Lets talk about Swisher and his awesome stats and even more awesome contract.. or Ubaldo and his failure to be better than a 5th level starter... or Chris Perez.. he has been good lately... why not talk about your ace being masterson.. who at best would be the tigers 5th best starter... or how Michael Bourn is hitting .192 in the month of Aug... or how your DH is 78 years old and hitting .188...

Good thing the all star game was in mid july.. because Kipnis wouldn't be on the team if they voted now.... He has been anus as well..

Come on shane.. lets talk Indians baseball!

Then how are they winning and haven't even played good baseball. And only 5 behind the GREATEST TEAM EVER the Tigs.

C'mon man, the Indians have so many options if guys are playing bad they hace some that will make up for it. Rotation isn't the best but Mccalister is back goin 2-0 w/ 1 ERA and Salazer is young stud. Masterson might not be an ace but he is a hell of pitcher and a 2nd guy for almost every other team. What we hqve is depth and 2-out hitting and that is dangerous late in the season, that we know.

shane was on the tigers board about a month back trolling tigers fans.. now he is avoiding us? Odd... Wonder if that has anything to do with his teams performance

I have been here and staying here, unlike you. How was that break? :laugh3:

10 games over is a bad performance, just watch and enjoy and stop being a hater

where to start...

masterson would not be better than a #3 on any team currently in the playoffs.

the indians have so many options? where? raburn? giambi? who are these options.. and please list them for us to laugh at.

Salazar has one win in four games started.. and an era over 4.. he is not as much of a stud as you thought.. he has one pitch... and that one pitch sure does bring a lot of hr's

I guess if you call a bunch of bench players and aaaa talent depth.. than yeah.. the indians are loaded with it. I doubt Giambi or raburn will be hitting to many more walk off hr's for you guys...

I love you coming here after a win... but quick question.. will you be missing from this board for another few weeks if the tigers push their lead over the indians back over 6?

this shane guy has to be slow in the head... there is no way he thinks the indians have depth and tons of options... seriously... there is no way someone that is not a homer could think that. shane only 25 vcash left in your account huh.. betting on the indians to win to much the last month?

If they had so much depth, why is giambi their DH?

Because they don't have depth... Giambi wouldn't be good if they let him pump himself up with roids again... How can you not find a guy better than Giambi to DH.. seriously..

Miggy may be hurt even worse. hope not.
we can handle the Twins with out him. maybe couple days of rest will be good for him????

breaking news!!! Leyland will start V Mart at catcher while the Tigers are in new York to play the Mets.
just 1 game. to see if his knees can hold up. thinking world series..Got to give Leyland props for this.
cant see V mart catching more than 1 or 2 games in the world series. Tigers are likely to sweep the National league team and he wont be able to handle squatting down to catch

Oh here we go with the porcello bashing again. I know you are spoiled with the tiges having four legit aces and rick as their fifth started, hes just fine as a fifth starter and a few bad games really pumped up his ERA. Its funny how whenever rick has a poor game the haters come out in full force. The guy has been solid for a while now. Putting smyly in the rotation makes no sense, you are just creating a huge hole in the bullpen by doing that. Theres no need to trade rick whatsoever.

Salazar is a kid and he will be good barring injury. Your logic doesnt make sense, porcello can only get better because hes still a young kid but salazar comes in as a kid and gives up home runs so he must suck. I agree porcello will be good for many years, he will be a solid two to three, but i disagree that salazar sucks.

Turner is also looking pretty damn good pitching for the hapless marlins, i expressed my concern when the trade occurred and i am still concerned but there comes an inherent risk when playing to win now.

Smitty -- the comment about the strikeouts is from a long standing discussion we've had on the Tigers game glogs. Basically there is two sides of the fence with Porcello:

One side believes Rick Porcello is what he is -- a back end starter who will eat innings, as he has been extremely durable. Personally, that is how I see him, as he lacks a go to pitch and he is a contact pitcher, who, unfortunately, teams are hitting .288 against him for his career. I think Detroit could get some great value in a trade with a NL team, where I think he'd be a much better fit.

Other side believes Rick Porcello is only 24 and believe he will become a top end starter. They believe he can develop an out pitch to go with his sinker ball. He has shown flashes this year, but he has done the same every year since he has been in the league.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out. I would love nothing more than to see Porcello become more consistent and put up quality numbers. As it stands now -- he is a solid #5 starter for the Tigers, but I'd actually rather see Drew Smyly in the rotation next year, as it'd give the Tigers a lefty to pair with all the righties we have.
He's 24! And I don't know who's foreseeing top end starter, he's not going to be a sub 3.00 ERA, 200+ K's Cy Young candidate type of guy. Not very many pitchers are.(What's wrong with his curve, change up and his increased velocity fastball?) But he has 10 more wins in his career than any other starter under 25, has a lot of experience, and has shown definite improvement even with Jhonny the statue behind him for most of the year. Seriously the Smyly stuff drives me insane. He may join the rotation next season, but it doesn't need to be at the expense of Rick. Most guys his age are just cutting their teeth in the bigs. And to be honest, I think Rick is as well. I don't see JV type numbers out of him, but I can see Arroyo type numbers. And over the long haul, I'm not asking for more than that from the back end of my rotation.

Salazer has one pitch?? You don't know, obviously!

The dude has a 98 MPH fastball yah, his changeup is the exact same arm motion and deadly. He has a nasty slider. He is young, but has great potential. I would say watch, but doesn't sound like you watch much baseball. I know more in my sleep than yur bandwagon ass.

I told you I have always been here. I don't post everyday. Reqlly the Indians have won 2 in a row, but have been basically .500 or less over the last couple weeks. So really they are on the decline and I am here.

Yah, the Angels had multiple chances to win, but those are the wins that get the roll started.

Turner has pitched well.. and I am a fan.. but he is by no means better than Sanchez is at this point.. and the tigers are trying to win now.. He has the potential to be an all star.. but right now.. I take sanchez.. they have a few years to draft and develop more starters if they keep most of this rotation around for another couple of years... so giving him up is not that bad even if Turner turns out to be a solid #2 which I think he will.

Keep this in mind.. The Marlins stadium is HUGE.. it is bigger than Comerica by far.. look at he dimensions.. some of the park is 20 ft more to hit a hr... HR that are out in Comerica are not in Miami... and Comerica is big. NL is obviously easier on pitchers.. so take his 3 era so far with a grain of salt.. I think Porcello could put up the same or better numbers if he played for the marlins.. who also are a better defensive team.

As for Salazar.. I just don't see what others are excited about past his 100 mph fastball.. and guess what.. if all you have is a 100 mph fastball.. you are not going to last long in the league as a starter... He already has had one TJ surgery hasn't he? He could end up polishing up a few other pitches and being a decent pitcher.. but at this point.. Rick Porcello is a better overall pitcher than Salazar... because he has more than one mlb level pitch. He only a year younger than Porcello... so here is another example of people getting excited about a pitcher about the same age as Porcello just because he just got called up.. Oh and about the HR's... Porcello has given up 13 in 135 innings... Salazar 5 in 23... A 100mph fastball is not enough to keep the ball in the park..
