They were saying yesterday he dropped a pitch from his arsenal to concentrate more on the others. And its worked well.....forgot what pitch it was....slider?
He is throwing a curve now.. and he never used to...

Lets talk about Swisher and his awesome stats and even more awesome contract.. or Ubaldo and his failure to be better than a 5th level starter... or Chris Perez.. he has been good lately... why not talk about your ace being masterson.. who at best would be the tigers 5th best starter... or how Michael Bourn is hitting .192 in the month of Aug... or how your DH is 78 years old and hitting .188...
Good thing the all star game was in mid july.. because Kipnis wouldn't be on the team if they voted now.... He has been anus as well..
Come on shane.. lets talk Indians baseball!
shane was on the tigers board about a month back trolling tigers fans.. now he is avoiding us? Odd... Wonder if that has anything to do with his teams performance
Then how are they winning and haven't even played good baseball. And only 5 behind the GREATEST TEAM EVER the Tigs.
C'mon man, the Indians have so many options if guys are playing bad they hace some that will make up for it. Rotation isn't the best but Mccalister is back goin 2-0 w/ 1 ERA and Salazer is young stud. Masterson might not be an ace but he is a hell of pitcher and a 2nd guy for almost every other team. What we hqve is depth and 2-out hitting and that is dangerous late in the season, that we know.
If they had so much depth, why is giambi their DH?
cleves... what statues do they have in east lansing of sparty QBs??????
He's 24! And I don't know who's foreseeing top end starter, he's not going to be a sub 3.00 ERA, 200+ K's Cy Young candidate type of guy. Not very many pitchers are.(What's wrong with his curve, change up and his increased velocity fastball?) But he has 10 more wins in his career than any other starter under 25, has a lot of experience, and has shown definite improvement even with Jhonny the statue behind him for most of the year. Seriously the Smyly stuff drives me insane. He may join the rotation next season, but it doesn't need to be at the expense of Rick. Most guys his age are just cutting their teeth in the bigs. And to be honest, I think Rick is as well. I don't see JV type numbers out of him, but I can see Arroyo type numbers. And over the long haul, I'm not asking for more than that from the back end of my rotation.Smitty -- the comment about the strikeouts is from a long standing discussion we've had on the Tigers game glogs. Basically there is two sides of the fence with Porcello:
One side believes Rick Porcello is what he is -- a back end starter who will eat innings, as he has been extremely durable. Personally, that is how I see him, as he lacks a go to pitch and he is a contact pitcher, who, unfortunately, teams are hitting .288 against him for his career. I think Detroit could get some great value in a trade with a NL team, where I think he'd be a much better fit.
Other side believes Rick Porcello is only 24 and believe he will become a top end starter. They believe he can develop an out pitch to go with his sinker ball. He has shown flashes this year, but he has done the same every year since he has been in the league.
Will be interesting to see how it pans out. I would love nothing more than to see Porcello become more consistent and put up quality numbers. As it stands now -- he is a solid #5 starter for the Tigers, but I'd actually rather see Drew Smyly in the rotation next year, as it'd give the Tigers a lefty to pair with all the righties we have.
I never been to the big house.....who has statues? I know in muskegon, earl morrall has a street named after him right next to muskegon high.
What statues do they have in AA for hoops? Webber? Burke? Manny harris? Stu douglas?
where to start...
masterson would not be better than a #3 on any team currently in the playoffs.
the indians have so many options? where? raburn? giambi? who are these options.. and please list them for us to laugh at.
Salazar has one win in four games started.. and an era over 4.. he is not as much of a stud as you thought.. he has one pitch... and that one pitch sure does bring a lot of hr's
I guess if you call a bunch of bench players and aaaa talent depth.. than yeah.. the indians are loaded with it. I doubt Giambi or raburn will be hitting to many more walk off hr's for you guys...
I love you coming here after a win... but quick question.. will you be missing from this board for another few weeks if the tigers push their lead over the indians back over 6?
Indians lucked out a win last night in the 14th inning..
masterson going for them tonight.
Tigers got to get back to form and beat these Twins.
took a day off work after 24 straight days with out a day off...just to help them win.
Salazar is a kid and he will be good barring injury. Your logic doesnt make sense, porcello can only get better because hes still a young kid but salazar comes in as a kid and gives up home runs so he must suck. I agree porcello will be good for many years, he will be a solid two to three, but i disagree that salazar sucks.
Turner is also looking pretty damn good pitching for the hapless marlins, i expressed my concern when the trade occurred and i am still concerned but there comes an inherent risk when playing to win now.
