I love me some Dlo but the Lakers should pass (even if he's willing to put bad blood aside). I believe I remember reading the max available to him is actually 27 mil, not 20 mil. That's just too much cap space to give to a guy like him for this team. So they'd have to get the 30+ mil in cap space they need to sign him with and he'd take up most of it. At that point, you might as well use it on a Kawhi or Kyrie. I think I'd prefer if they'd use the 30 mil to spread across multiple free agents. Like you said, you can still get some quality guys at around 18 to 20 mil and still have enough to get other good players left over. D'Lo is probably too far out of the price range

The problem is he might be the best option for the Lakers. Kyrie, KD, Kawhi, Butler could very well sign with other teams and nobody would be shocked. There isnt much in the FA for PG or guards in general and then they have to have interest in joining the Lakers. Signing one of those guys and you literally have no flexibility but obviously the better move for a guy like Kawhi or KD. You can still save around $10 with DLo possibly but the main point is he might be the best option available.

All of those options are besides the point if they cant even free up a max spot.

I think DLo is fine option, especially to help space the floor....

I would love to get DLo back as long as he signs for less than the max obviously.

Patrick Beverly is a name that keeps coming up too, again which I wouldn't mind either

Yeah I thought his max was less than 27M but even 22-24 on a long-term deal could be a bargain. 20M would give nice flexibility but he wants to get paid no doubt

What if neither Kawhi nor Kyrie want any part of the Lakers?

Just like I said, pay someone else in that 18 to 20 mil range and fill the rest of the roster out with 3 or 4 other quality guys and then minimum salary guys. If you spend 27 on D'Lo, you're only gonna have enough left over for 1 or 2 quality guys (+ minimum salary players).

What I'm getting at is if the Lakers have 27 mil to spend on D'Lo, it means they've executed those trades to get rid of Wagner/Bonga/etc to get the most cap space they can have (which is 30+ mil, something close to 32). That's just enough for a max slot for Kawhi or Kyrie. So for that 5 mil dollar difference (32 to 27), I'd rather have the step up in quality of player (especially Kawhi) than D'Lo + 1 or 2 extra guys. But if they can't get Kawhi, they'd be better served splitting up that 30+ mil over 4 to 5 quality players to fill in depth and skillsets (as opposed to D'Lo + 1 or 2)

Like, Rubio or Beverly + Redick + Brook Lopez +a Morris twin is better to me than D'lo +Danny Green + a Morris twin

I have the feeling the Lakers will have to offer DLo the max for him to even consider coming back.

If Kyrie signs with the Nets there will be other teams that definitely will offer the max or close to it.

DLo was an all star last year.

He is getting max offers. No doubt about it.

If the Nets let him go, whoever he signs with will be where he wants to play, not who offers the most $.

Yeah, D-Lo being an RFA makes things a little more interesting, imo.

Teams know that they don't necessarily have to offer him a max, they just have to beat what the Nets would offer, which likely won't be too hard if they think they're getting Kyrie.

However, a team that feels they're close and struck out on bigger names, might offer him a max anyway.

I wonder if the Lakers could get him on a 1 and 1 with a "handshake deal" that they'll give him a raise next season?

This is likely the case, right?

I would love to see Kemba go the Lakers.

Hey how you been? Today sucks. Not only is it Monday but the Lakers are getting better. Truly depressing.

Yeah but if the injury bug didn't get the Lakers they would have been in the playoffs. But I did get a good laugh outta the front office dysfunction.

in retrospect, it was probably worth it. Not sure they get AD without the #4
