If anyone can do it (currently in the league) then it would be AP. I'm not going to get too worried until he gets alot closer though. He's got all the ability in the world with the ball in his hands, he always says and does the right things and he works as hard as Jerry Rice. I wouldn't be too upset if he does it. Just can't see it as of now.
btw, imo the best (I never saw) was Jim Brown. You can count on zero hands how many times one man took him down. He was (simply put) ahead of his time. Favorite however, will always be E dot Smith.

that's funny....I'm the old man and I don't recall seeing Jim Brown play, however my Dad say's I did at age 5. I do have a great picture of Lilly tackling Jim Brown and both players signed with HOF year.

Emmitt defined durability and is number 2 on my NFL list.....homer or no homer

49 years young. A year away from the casino buffet discounts. HEEHAW.

Half Way to 60? How long has it been since you changed the calender in the garage. You know they do still publish the Pin-Up ones. Right?

Christian Micheal will be on that list if he can keep his head on straight. He is the best High School RB I have seen since coming out of school in 01', and this includes Charles. Where I was born in the Golden Triangle (Beaumont, Nederland, Port Neches, Silsbee, Port Arthur, Orange, etc.) there is and always has been so much football talent, not to mention Coaches like Jimmy Johnson, Wade Phillips, and Bum Phillips to name a few. Largest football talent per capita comes from my home area. We even produce NBA and MLB talent, but I attribute that to the plants out here, has to be the toxic air that helps us grow bigger, stronger, and faster lol.

I would say this, best pure Running Backs as far as just running goes I would say would be:

1.) Barry Sanders
2.) AP
3.) Sweetness

Best Overall RB's ever

1.) Sweetness (as complete of a back as there ever will be)
2.) Smith (a complete back but not as great of a runner as Sweetness or he would be 1)
3.) LT (This guy was great, and complete actually thought he would break Smith's record until I realized he was breaking down faster than bread in water)

Know the area very well. My son coached is first 3 years at LCM.

Saw a game years ago between the Beaumont school that wear purple (think it's Ozen??) against Vidor.
That was some experience 10 years ago and I thought mt son was crazy to start coaching in that area but it was a great experience for him

For my money the most complete RB I have been able to watch play (1991- on) was Marshall Faulk. That guy could do it all.

My personal top 5 goes something like this:

1. Barry Sanders
2. Emmitt Smith
3. Marshall Faulk
4. Ladanian Tomlinson
5a. Curtis Martin
5b. Terrell Davis (pre-injury)

I feel like I'm missing someone important...

Good list i'm going to assume your under 30 to not have Sweetness on the list or maybe a major oversight on your part. If your under thirty the guy your missing is probably Eddie George.

Yea I'm under 30, barely. I started watching in 1991. I thought long and hard about Eddie George, but to me he was a back who got his yards through attrition rather than pure talent or skill. If I had to do this list again I probably bump Curtis Martin for Adrian Peterson.

I don't disagree with that, but most Cowboy Haters would make the same argument about Smith.

Emmitt had great vision, unbelievable durability and longevity to go along with 3 rings that he was largely responsible for. Eddie George didn't/doesn't have any of those things. Eddie George was an incredible physical specimen who tried to run everyone over.
