A "Victory in the Bank" - A Radical New Playoff Idea

I have a better idea, though it is really an old idea that was once used with a modern Twist.

First reduce Season to 80 games, maybe 78.
Get rid of a Point for an OT loss, only give it to SO Losses.
Top 3 in each Division get a Bye
7v10, 8v9 in a 5 game series.

This allows Division winners to get a week off, and play a team that has played hockey for a long time. 2v3.

Q: Why would someone propose this?
Q: What is wrong with what we have now?
Q: If there is something wrong, how else could this be done better?

Zorlos 5 have set the game of hockey back 100 years. Any planet that uses recombinant DNA stolen from Freddy The Fog Shero's corpse to clone their coach is despicable enough, but then to replicate the Broad Street Bullies using more stolen DNA is reprehensible. Damned planet didn't "learn" anything, they hatched their success in Petri dishes.
