There has been talk of a system being created where the top team would get an automatic BYE into round #2. That approach is far more drastic, and poses many more problems, but it's out there and has been debated among the hockey experts.

I see this is going to be a tough crowd. :boxing:
No,your idea is far worse.

I think the Oilers have uncovered a new way to make the playoffs - That or it's another goof from the Worldwide Leader in Sports.

A win in the bank is one thing, but a playoff entry in the bank? C'mon!!

Lol. Nice catch, @dash

Now THAT's an oil change.

(oh shit, that reminds me I need to go by Jiffy Lube after work. Haha).

To make baseball more interesting i think the regular season should be each team in each conference plays each other once at home. Then the top 2 teams (after a rochambeau for seating by the top 15 teams) have a 162 game series to determine who gets homefield for the allstar game

The instant a sport starts putting "wins in the bank" is the instant I stop watching. What a fucking joke
The permanent designated hitter rule for both leagues makes it a joke and already non-watchable to me. MickeyMouse League Baseball.

How about have the playoffs like The Amazing Race where Phil Keegan can declare it a non elimination round and the losing team still gets to play on.

It is shocking to me that this stupid, stupid thread turns 11 this month.

To quote Britney Spears, "not a girl.... not yet a woman."

Wait for it. I have a great new radical concept.....
"Draft pick in the bank"

Essentially when your teams' bonehead GM finally gets fired, said team gets a compensatory pick as part of the draft lottery.

Is this draft pick in the bank certified or registered?

Oh, I thought maybe the draft pick in the bank was automatically awarded to teams signing defenseman to contracts that keep them beyond their 40th birthday. Ya know... be fair to the fans. Same principle though i guess. ;)

Btw, it always cracks me up to see this thread in the recent group on the front page of the site. I start laughing before I even open it up.

Canucks got a compensatory draft pick when their bonehead coach got fired.
well, technically when their bonehead ex-coach got re-hired

/thank you, CBJ

let's just say, I'd rather have Gadjovich than Torts. lol

jesus, I was looking at that draft to lay some blame on our scouting staff, but my god that draft got dry in a hurry.
the only player after that who made any sort of dent is Drake Batherson (4th round)
