All I can add is the OP's idea had more holes in it than Holtby on "Swiss Cheese Poutine" night.

Would you have to forfeit your accumulated VITBs if you miss the playoffs one year?

Or maybe you could use them to jump ahead of the 8th place team and get into the playoffs?

If you accumulate 16 of them can you just trade them in for the Cup?

Can two teams apply theirs to the same game thereby jumping straight to game 3 of a series, or would they cancel each other out and form them to play the game?

I just saw a leaked email between the NHLPA and their player reps that confirms that "any team with a VITB may exchange said VITB for the right to protect 3 additional skaters (or 1 skater and 1 goaltender) in the Expansion Draft".

Hope the Caps finish first then to add a VITB so we can protect against future Vegas Golden Shower first liner Daniel Winnik from being stolen away.

I think it's nice to see ESPN including Victory in the Bank in the standings now. It's pretty useful. Relatedly, people gotta look out for Ottawa if they make the postseason. All those VITB could be deadly.

My ghost runner runs a faster 40 than yours. So he can score on a bunt from second
