The only way I will change my opinion about Long is if he beats out Lavou and Kojo for the starting LG position. If he does that then I will admit that I was totally wrong about him.

lol. I disagree. I cant wait to prove you wrong this summer about Long. Of course 4th round picks make teams. Especially high ones.

You won't prove anybody wrong about anything because you are the only one making dumb ass, bullshit claims.

We supply proof that Long is not as bad as you claim and you continue to be a dumb ass.

Here is an article that looks at success rates of picks making rosters of the team that drafted them.

How long does the average draft pick stick around?

Nobody ever said fourth rounders don't make the team. You really need to improve your reading comprehension.

Let me ask you this another way...if our second best guard last season, Long, was ranked 28 in the entire NFL at either guard slot and there are 64 starting guards in the NFL, wouldn't that make him the best guard on 5 teams at a minimum?

gk you said we "hope" a 4th round pick makes the team. I thought "hope is a strong word when the majority of high 4th round picks make the team. pff does not determine if a player is good or not.

cali at least I give my onpinions unlike the dan diedorfs of this board who state the obvious. Or the guys who just agree whatever SM does.

Brilliant. I suppose that I should just act like some obnoxious sports talk caller & go out on a limb & talk in extremes about everything. You are damn rt that I am going to agree with SM on most moves. Would it make more sense for me to side with some random internet posters who often are motivated by emotions or their feeling that somehow they should be an NFL GM or coach? LOL.

Granted GMs like SM are going to make mistakes - all teams do. However - unlike any poster here - he has one thing going for him - a track record. Are you suggesting that the Redskins FO should solicit input from the fans? Been there - done that - it doesn't work.

I will continue to take the conservative approach & side with the current FO. I am interested in the Redskins winning - not being rt about any predictions or somehow feeling that I know how to run the team.

I agree PFF does not determine tha but at least they have an actual metric, unlike you and me. You admit you did not watch much of Gabe Jackson but listen to a buddy of yours about how he played. He has bias for Jackson and so do you. There is no bias in metrics.

You have bias against Long because you want to be proven right with Kujo. Again, PFF has an actual metric that says Long was pretty damn good. There is no bias in metrics.

Why don't you go find a few plays where Long was bad...at least then you would have some evidence?

I use the word "hope" he makes the team because there is a better chance he doesn't than he is a day one starter without injury...which seems to be your expectation of a fourth rounder.

Im not bias against Long. I just think the Kojo pick meant something b/c of Long. I cant believe you think Long is just as good or even better than Jackson right now. The way you guys talk about LOng is that he should win the LG job in training camp hands down. We will see what happens.

Hey, opinions drive a message board and we all have them. I was more coming from a place of wondering why you always seem so absolute with your opinions then anything else.
He once coached a pee wee league football team.

Teams do not draft mid round picks because of need...they would hardly ever hit. I will flat out tell you Kujo had nothing to do with Long.

I never stated Long was better than Jackson. I have simply used facts to disprove your so-called points of definity.

Your friend is not a point because I showed you an actual metric.

You are not right because I showed you an actual metric.

You make a claim because of a conference award...I trump your point with a national award.

You use your opinion and I use the opinion of 32 franchises.

You are the only one that speaks in definitive terms. I think most of us would like to see how camp turns out. As of today, Long is the front runner over Kujo...to think otherwise is willfully ignorant.

All the Kojo pick meant was that he was the BPA at that slot according to SMs draft board. You read way too much into a 4th round pick.

I would say the only SLIGHT advantage Kujo has over Long is the fact that SMGM drafted Kujo. But that will only go so far.

If I were to place a wager, the ONLY player who has a position secured on the O-line is Williams at LT. the other four spots will go to the best four players period. IF Long and Lavauo turn out to be two of the best four left, bank on them making some decisions at RT and center.

great picture gk. But we have nothing else to talk about until the combine. Cmon Shark you would have to think the right side is locked down for the next 3 years.

And Scherff at one of the spots....question is which one.

You already know, I think the BEST RT on our team ended up playing RG because at the start of the season we didnt have any one else we trusted to start at the spot. I think they will go in with the same mentality of playing the BEST five O-lineman. SO I could see some shifting if we get some one more talented to play on the line.

lol. that is hilarious. I see us getting a new center and Lavou,Long, and Kojo battling for the LG spot. IF we draft a OG or OT in the first 4 rounds I would be shocked. IF somehow Lavou is an offseason cut then I could see adding a OG.

I tend to agree with this statement but it would not be unheard of to have Shark's scenario play out.

I disagree on the draft though. I wouldn't be shocked to see any position other than QB in rounds 1-4.
