Yanks in a funk
85 might be enough to win the AL East (or grab a WC).
Yeah I don't see any of these five running away and hiding, either for first or last. I have a feeling we could enter Sept this year with the last place team less than five out.
The WCs, I would say that one comes from the Central between Detroit and KC and the other one from the West between Seattle and Anaheim. I don't think Houston stays up there all year, still think they are a year away.
Why are you overreacting to ~30 games in a 162 game season?
Not overreacting at all. They have shitty hitters. Pitching can improve but I don't see the hitting improving at all.
Yeah, there's no way Cano, who had a 142 OPS+ last year and finished in the top 10 in the AL in OPS+ four of the last five years, can improve at all. Nope. That 95 OPS+ is more reflective of his talent level. Not overreacting at all. They have shitty hitters. Pitching can improve but I don't see the hitting improving at all.
If Iwakuma comes back to what he was and Paxton and the other kid come close to their potential the M's have the best pitching in the West by far. Hitting wise you have Cano and Cruz in the middle and we know what they should hit over a season. Miller and Seager are good hitters that don't get the recognition they deserve. Zunino is a good catcher with potential. Seth Smith has always been a decent fourth OFer. And finally LoMo, IMO one of those guys that could be a superstar but just plain lazy. If and it is a big if Seattle can get him to hit, they would have a great 3-4-5.
