I know it is early but is very nice to have 5.5 game lead on the 2 teams most considered to finish top 2 in the division

Knew it was coming, just had to hope it started later in the year. I still think this is a Yankees team that wins between 80-85 games.
85 might be enough to win the AL East (or grab a WC).

Yeah I don't see any of these five running away and hiding, either for first or last. I have a feeling we could enter Sept this year with the last place team less than five out.

The WCs, I would say that one comes from the Central between Detroit and KC and the other one from the West between Seattle and Anaheim. I don't think Houston stays up there all year, still think they are a year away.

at the same time, I wouldn't be too surprised if someone pulls 95+ wins out of their asses (like the O's last year). their SP overachieved last year.

Agreed on the Astros. Keuchel and McHugh are the only pitchers on that team worth a damn. Any rotation that has Roberto Carmona/Fausto Hernandez (or whatever the hell he's calling himself these days) isn't to be taken seriously. Feldman kinda sucks too.

that, and despite all the power they have offensively, they have no one on base to drive in. 7th in runs scored despite leading the AL in home runs. Why? because they're 14th in the AL in OBP.

Rickie Weeks with some Raul Ibanez-esque defense right there. 2-1 Sox.

Why are you overreacting to ~30 games in a 162 game season?

Not overreacting at all. They have shitty hitters. Pitching can improve but I don't see the hitting improving at all.

If Iwakuma comes back to what he was and Paxton and the other kid come close to their potential the M's have the best pitching in the West by far. Hitting wise you have Cano and Cruz in the middle and we know what they should hit over a season. Miller and Seager are good hitters that don't get the recognition they deserve. Zunino is a good catcher with potential. Seth Smith has always been a decent fourth OFer. And finally LoMo, IMO one of those guys that could be a superstar but just plain lazy. If and it is a big if Seattle can get him to hit, they would have a great 3-4-5.

Yeah, there's no way Cano, who had a 142 OPS+ last year and finished in the top 10 in the AL in OPS+ four of the last five years, can improve at all. Nope. That 95 OPS+ is more reflective of his talent level.

Or it's because he's just not very good. He has 1975 PA (~three seasons worth). Can't believe this is his sixth season in the majors already.

I was excluding Cano & Cruz. Talking about the 7 guys mainly
