You can assume if he puts the ball in play he has a much better chance of getting on base than if he strikes out. And as noted, Mike Napoli strikes out way too much...especially for someone who doesn't hit the long ball anymore. This isn't David Ortiz or Miguel Cabrera we're talking about.

With all those strikeouts, he was a few points above his lifetime BA in 2013 and a few below in 2014.

I know...can you imagine if he actually put the ball in play on a regular basis?

He's been a lifetime strike out machine. He had a really good year in 2011 and a pretty good year in 2013. I will give him this...the bomb off Verlander in the ALCS won that World Series. Biggest of his career and the Red Sox that year.

Hey Sox fans how come they ejected the O's starter after hitting Pablo? Was there a warning giving? Seems weird just looking at the box score

The Orioles got jobbed bad.

Even the RedSox managers and players admitted it was a shitty call and an umpire inserting himself for no reason.

Nobody was mad about the slide. Sandoval defended Ubaldo saying it was unintentional.

And I dont know of any pitchers who are throwing a no-hitter who intentionally hit guys and get tossed.

Ubaldo was untouchable. Once he got ejected the Sox rallied against the O's pen to win.

Maybe so. Relax...season is 162 games long. The best team WILL win the division regardless of any call.

I could not get the game here. The call looked fine to me!

Tanaka looked like Tanaka as the Yanks win their first series of the year.

Now if only we can complete the sweep tomorrow, I would feel much better through 12 games than I did after the first 3 series

Yanks sweep now head to Detroit for 4 before coming home for round 1 of the subway series.

I would glady take a 4-3 week facing those 2 teams

Yankees now at .500 and only 1 back of the lead.

The way this division looks early on, we are going to see teams go from last to first and from first to last in a week often.

Disagree. I think we'll see teams go from first to 4th in a week often.

Tampa will be stuck in last for good by June

I thought that way before the season started, but other than the series with us Tampa has surprised me this year.
