I actually barely read that shit article. Using Hayward as a comparison made me close out. Duh, hes the best in the business.


I am not worried about our shit defense. I still don't like Hunter signing but actually it improves us in every way imaginable compared to the clown show of Hermann, Colabello, Clete Thomas etc.. All those guys couldn't hit along with not playing defense.


The only downside to all of our young talent is the only 2 proven defenders are Hicks(who hasn't proven he can hit a lick) and Buxton(who ain't here yet). Dozier is good at 2nd and Santana may get there


but I ain't expecting Tampa Bay type defense

Career minors - 29-43, 4.39 era and gawd awful 1.478 whip as well as a 2.29 k/w ratio

Are you point that out to show that the Yankees minor league system is weaker than the Tigers? If so your may be absolutely correct.

I don't even know if I know a MLB pitcher that had that bad of a career whip in the minors. Hey, I hope he does work out it would be a feel good story of terrible minors to prosperous pros.

Wasn't Jeremy Guthrie just as bad a minor leagues pitcher? I believe Doug Fister also struggled a good amount in the minors.

It doesn't happen too often, but you do on occasion see a guy who was nothing special in the minors have some MLB success.

John Valentin batted .245/.334./.366 in the minors, making it to the majors at the age of 25. So he wasn't really young for the levels he played at. Valentin was a .279/.360/.454 (109 OPS+) hitter in the majors while primarily playing SS/3B. He also played GG caliber defense. Very good player until injuries got the best of him.

Melvin Mora also had a pretty underwhelming minor league career, and he didn't reach the majors until he was 27 years old. He ended up having a pretty nice career (career .277/.350./.431 hitter, 28.2 WAR in 6158 PA).
