I don't know aboot smallball. That was a guy with his head up his butt. That run
didn't matter....

True. But Ned was pulling a double steal there. Said after the game he had 100% confidence in the two PRs getting to 2nd & 3rd where a single can tie the game. As you said, Dyson just totally misread the swing move by Nathan.

I don't blame Yost for trying to get out of a DP situation. (Maybe a little ballsy, but KC's a running team.). Dyson can't make that kind of mistake there though.

I've always considered Aoki a speedy, solid base runner. Maybe Im missing something. But most guys can score from second on a base hit to Detroits outfield. Gamesmanship? Why pinch run?

I don't know aboot smallball. That was a guy with his head up his butt. That run didn't matter.... Aoki should kick him square in the nuts. (Fast enough to beat out an infield single, but not fast enough to stay out there and run the bases? And who was the 6th grader running at first?)

The best baseball move would have been to sub Dyson for Aoki after he got to 1st base....he could have SBed or at least given a chance to stay out of the DP....then Infante gets on and they sub Gore....Gore can't steal with Aoki on 2nd base...bad decision again to not sub BOTH player with Dyson and Gore...allegedly 2 of the faster players in baseball. Once the decision was made to sub Dyson, with Aoki on 2nd base...it telegraphed the chance of a double steal...

If you want a players perspective, Ian Kinsler said after the game, "as soon as Dyson came out to 2nd to pinch run, we knew something was up and I gave a signal to Nathan"

Why the fuck have signs, when you blatantly show everyone in the stadium your idea...next time NED LOST, just holler out...HEY MAYBE WE SHOULD DO A DOUBLE STEAL TO STAY OUT OF DP AND GIVE BOTH RUNNERS A CHANCE TO SCORE ON ANY HIT...

I can see why NED LOST was removed from Milw on the teams 1st playoff run in years...he is the one that can't handle the pressure and because he tinkers so damn much, its magnified under pressure and the mistakes are bigger...he thinks he is a calm, players manager and could be while they are losing but he is absolutely terrible and not freakin a calm thinker with pressure.

mistake: not subbing Dyson for Aoki WHILE ON 1st BASE

What's wrong with Aoki just running himself though? Is he a poor base runner?

(Kinsler wasn't the only guy who knew they were on the move. Dyson may have been the only guy that didn't know everybody knew.(Joe and Ian's post games were better than Brads tonight.))

NAILED IT because of the way Ned Lost told the entire world. You can't do those type of moves when everyone knows it.

Aoki isn't fast enough, average baserunner...

down by 2 in the 9th, you get 1 guy on and have 2, not 1, super fast guys on the bench...you freakin PINCH RUN...every manager in baseball history knows that, MANAGING 101....then when the opportunity presented itself you could double steal...but Dyson could have stole 2nd and been ahead of the play and a double steal wouldn't have even needed to be called. NED LOST boxed himself into a corner and created the problem....besides the fact the Royals couldn't score all game also...the point is Ned doesn't need to create bad basic baseball managing mistakes if he expects the defense, baserunning to be good and tight when his shit isn't together.

Those "prospects" seldom are anything close to the hype surrounding them.

Id throw a guy every fifth day until it seems someone else is a better start. Monitoring innings so a guy doesn't hit a wall when it matters is worth doing though. (I just wanted to turn the tables a little with the resting talk. It worked out smashingly: ). Smyly was useless last September.

I used to think you were nuts for that preemptive Tommy John talk. But maybe you were on to something.

Speaking of hitting walls and hype,....... Bryce Harper sure isnt what he used to be. ONE stolen base. ONE. Five tools my ass. Guy has 18 RBI that aren't himself. And Ks more than I blink.

Harper and strasburg have to this point been much more hype than anything. Ill give them the benefit of doubt since they are young, but for strasburg I think he needs to break out next year. I am a fan of the preemptive tommy john surgery myself. If the tigers have a stud coming up thru the system, I would rather see him have the surgery in the minors than the majors. Not everyone is a JV. Tigers have truly been blessed with their lack of serious injuries to all of their starters.

Well the good thing about the tigers is they are winning their AL central matchups.

I like starsburg to break out next year, and harper and jason heyward to break out in 2016.

Also this offseason instead of spending all of his time at the gym pumping iron he should be practicing baseball. Otherwise he will just be a rich mans gabe kapler.

ah well, over my anger of last nights game....man, I thought for sure they were going to rally and them putting on runners got me more hooked in the small dream.. and really wanted to tie the series...bottom line the Royals didn't score during the game and put themselves in the situation, the manager is irrelevant, if you don't have the talent to score in the first place....

Guys like Miggy, Trout, etc...make the managers so much smarter, lol.

Royals don't have any power hitters. really. Hosmer maybe. at KC. He aint going to poke one out at Comerica park.

Not that the Royals have any power hitters, but Hosmer? Really? Of all the players to go with, you chose the guy with 6 home runs and an ISO below the league average (and was below in 2012 and about average in 2013)?

You could have at least mentioned someone like Gordon or Moustakas, who have decent power numbers.

edit: And actually, that's not entirely true. Josh Willingham has pretty good pop.

His last sentence has good odds though.

Id take Gordon in my lineup anyday. And like that Willingham deal a lot, if anybody didn't know already. Some power in that old bat, relatively speaking.

It's like saying Ryan Howard was one of the fastest players on the Phillies in 2009 because he stole 8 bases. Hell, Yadier Molina stole 12 (caught 3 times, giving him an 80% rate) in 2012.

Willingham was a great deal for them and should rarely be their odd man out. He walks and has power, both things the royals need badly.

Im shocked by both of those stolen base totals. (And I thought it was weird to pick Hosmer also. Moose has some power when he makes contact. Could have went with him.)

Never would have guessed Yadi had a double digit season.

It's the toolz, though. It's not a question if it's there, it's just like... uh... well- that's a pickle to get the raw power out, isn't it?

Got a few baseball nerds here...
Who was the last switch hitter to win the MVP?

Moose if you watched the Royals broadcast yesterday, you don't get to answer.
