I would LOVE Van Slyke for 2015 though. Would give us a deadly platoon bat and insurance at 1B if Hosmer continues to struggle at the plate vs LHP.

It could, but we have quite a bit of depth in that bullpen with guys like Frasor and Bueno lurking about. Yost's aggressive strategy is understandable. Certainly a risky move regardless of how stacked a bullpen is in the backend.

forget it, he was joking about Van Slyke because of the discussion a week or so before the trade deadline. Van slyke has basically gotten pinch hitting abs since then with a scattered in start. He is around 5 for 33 with 1 hr, and a lot of no abs in games since the discussion.

its really a mute point now, KC didn't get him but I do like him more than Moose or Nick C as a power bat at 6'6" and a good gene pool with dad Andy says more athletic.

So long as Butler, 1B, and 3B are black holes, it's going to be hard to see this team doing damage. So far so good for Butler in the 2nd half, 3B remains a problem.

I will say they have the A's number as of late. Not sure how they are with Angels and O's... Albeit not the playoffs yet. They do have great pitching. Still no big power bat. Although I am small ball in playoffs kinda guy. The Royals are built for that. I do feel they could squeak out a series or 2 in playoffs.
