now a .4 Dwar is elite? LOL
Go back and read what I said... I said he isn't top 25 or even top 100... and POSSIBLY not even top 150. Depending on how you look at Gordon's numbers he is NOT a top 100 batter. And what you are saying is very true.. I am sorry.. but you can't use the last 5 years to show what Gordon will be at age 32.. he is clearly not the same player he was a few years ago... Defensively or Offensively.
Gordon's BA has been on a decline for the most part since 2011... He is not stealing bases like he was in 2011 or even 2013 anymore... he missed a large chunk of time to injury.. and is 32 years old.. you think he is going to magically morph back into 2011 Alex Gordon now that he has a big contract? His offensive numbers are right in line with what they've been the past couple years, so how can you say he's clearly not the same.
From 2011-2014, he had a .356 OBP and 121 OPS+. In 2015, he had a .377 OBP and 120 OPS+. How are those not similar?
Seriously, do you make things up as you go along and hope no one calls you out on them?

Just admit it... His overall stats are getting worse... He is on the tail end of his prime. His defense, base running, and health are declining. You can cherry pick what ever stats you want.. Gordon just got paid like a top 25 position player and he isn't one.Dee Gordon had the 2nd highest average in baseball, so what? If he's getting on base at a good rate, most could care less about average. Gordon just posted the highest OBP of his career.
Gordon could certainly age relatively well as a player given he didn't make the majors until he was 23 because he went to college (which means less mileage on his body) and he's not the slugger type that tends to 'crash and burn' in their 30s. Look at the types like Kinsler, Zobrist, Choo, etc and I'd lump Gordon into that class. Guys like that tend to stay relatively productive well into their 30s if you look at similar players historically.
Regardless... His dwar would have been much lower than years past if he played more... Which he didn't because he is in his 30s and breaking down.0.4 dWAR in 104 games (not even 2/3 of a season).
Why not talk about alex gordon's playoff numbers? Those were shit.

He had 2 hr and 6 rbi in the entire post season... Serious stop trying to act like alex gordon is a top 25 player... He isn't. You can use any bs stat you want... He is a top 50 player at best getting paid like like a top 25.He had a .775 OPS in the playoffs with 10 runs in 16 games, which ain't bad at all....of course clowns who focus largely on batting average ignore that.
I guess you'd take the .300 hitter with a .700 OPS over the .275 hitter with a .800 OPS, cause batting average is awesome!
You are the stat geek... Im just using your own argument against you.WAR says Mike Trout was better than Cabrera the years he won MVP (and I don't think you were saying Trout should've won), but of course you pick and choose which stats to use when it's convenient on you.
Not homerish at all...
