I get Doug is a moron... But do you honestly believe Mauer is a better DH than Vmart? Even coming off a serious knee injury Vmart hit more HR, had only 2 less RBI, was only .15 lower BAA, and struck out 60 times less in 30 less games... While making $5mil a yr less. Iffy.. some of the shit you say is on par with the stupid shit doug says... the difference is Doug is a retard... and you seem to have some brain function...

Considering Mauer's posted a better OPS in 3 of their past 4 seasons (and that's with Mauer averaging 100+ games in the field each of those years), one could certainly make the argument, no?

Honestly.. Vmart was runner up for the MVP only 12 months ago... Without the knee injury last year.. its not even a discussion. And its not like Mauer is a model of health. I doubt there are many GM's that would trade Vmart for Mauer straight up... Mauer costs 23 mil a yr vs Vmarts 18 mil... and the fact that a DH's job is to drive in runs.. and Vmart hit more HR in 30 less games... and only had 2 less rbi.. in 30 less games... I don't see many GM's that would argue in favor of Mauer.

I amend my choice...considering Mauer's contract...I'd go with VMart as a DH. Not that VMart is worthy of praise at this point, or that his upside is any better than Mauer's, it is simply that his financial disaster will end sooner than Mauer's. In truth....I cry for both team's.

Vmart's upside is 100 times that of Mauer's. Even at his age.. he doesn't strike out.. and he will hit 20+ HR if he stays away from the offseason training program that keeps ripping his knees up. Mauer won't hit 20+ Hr for the rest of his career let alone next year. Mauer strikes out all the time now. He is finished. Joe Mauer's K rate was 13th worst in the MLB..

The guy had a career year by far at age 35....let's be realistic and not act like that's his norm. That would be like using Magglio's 2007 season when he hit .360+ in his mid-30s as his norm.


And I don't know who wrote the book that a DH's job is to drive in runs....as an example, I'd rather have a DH who hits .320 with a .900 OPS and 75 RBI than a DH who hits .265 with a .800 OPS and 85 RBI, and you would too...and let's not forget that Mauer scored 75% more runs than V-Mart last year. You only care about RBI but completely ignore runs? Come on...

Not to mention, Mauer hit .352 with a .922 OPS with RISP last year....
