The guy had a career year by far at age 35....let's be realistic and not act like that's his norm. That would be like using Magglio's 2007 season when he hit .360+ in his mid-30s as his norm.

And I don't know who wrote the book that a DH's job is to drive in runs....as an example, I'd rather have a DH who hits .320 with a .900 OPS and 75 RBI than a DH who hits .265 with a .800 OPS and 85 RBI, and you would too...and let's not forget that Mauer scored 75% more runs than V-Mart last year. You only care about RBI but completely ignore runs? Come on...

Not to mention, Mauer hit .352 with a .922 OPS with RISP last year....
LOL.. at you still trying to argue in favor of Mauer.. dude.. Do you actually think Mauer is going to hit .320 with a .900 ops next year? He barely had a .700 ops last year... A DH/1st base with no power and high strike out rate is not worth 23 mil... Vmart will have a better season than Mauer.. I will 100% guarantee that. Where did Mauer bat.. where did Vmart bat? Do you expect #6 and #7 hitters to bat in as many runs as a #3 or #4 hitter? Seriously.. scoring runs has everything to do with where you are in the batting order...

Tigers said to be considering many players. One is duensing...I like that guy. Even though he was a twin.he is a lefty.can use him long relief.spot start.or come in to face left hand batters.can always use a lefty like him. Or course he must come cheap.

And RBI's don't? Batting cleanup surely helped Martinez' RBI totals, especially considering he hit a whopping .214 with RISP.

Of course you're going to say Martinez will have a better year...you're about as biased as they come towards the Tigers, considering you bash Cueto for struggling down the stretch but don't make the same criticisms towards Jordan Zimmerman on the grounds that Zimmerman is a Tiger now and Cueto isn't.

I haven't said anything about the Zimmerman signing.. I didn't want Cueto because he is a douche... The same reason why the Card don't even want to talk to his agent about him. You can have Mauer bro.. he is so over paid its not even funny at this point. Vmart is over paid also.. but if you were to bet who could have an all star season between the two next year.. and you picked Mauer... Many people would laugh at you.

Lets be honest... If Vmart hits .290 with 15 HR and 90 RBi next year while rarely striking out... nobody would be surprised.. If Joe Mauer did this.. everyone would shit their pants.

I would even be willing to wager that Vmart has a higher OPS next year than Mauer.

That's your argument? Might wanna check the numbers before claiming that Mauer's teammates and/or where he batted was the reason he had so many more runs...

These were the Twins #4-6 hitters in 2015 (Mauer batted primarily 3rd):
#3 - .231 AVG, .754 OPS
#4 - .252 AVG, .734 OPS
#5 - .248 AVG, .688 OPS

These were the Tigers #5-7 hitters in 2015 (Martinez batted primarily 4th):
#4 - .263 AVG, .756 OPS
#5 - .261 AVG, .752 OPS
#6 - .251 AVG, .686 OPS

Looks pretty even to me, yet Mauer scored 75% more runs...

Once again.. if Vmart hits .290 with 15 hr and 90 rbi next year.. nobody would be surprised.. yet if Mauer was to put up these numbers people would shit... You and I both know this. You are arguing just to argue at this point.. and its comical to watch you try to dig any type of stat to help you.

There isn't a GM in baseball that would take Mauer over Vmart at this point in their careers.. especially when you take their contracts into consideration.

What the heck does contract have to do with who will perform better in 2016?

And you were bashing him in a Zimmerman v. Cueto comparison by bringing up how he didn't pitch well down the stretch, while ignoring that Zimmerman didn't pitch well down the stretch?

If that's not blatant homerism, I don't know what is.

Dude.. do you just like to argue? Seriously? Do you honestly think Mauer is going to have a better season than Vmart? Honestly? Because you and I both know.. Vmart having a 20+ HR season or 100 RBI season.. or a .300 BA next year would be much less of a surprise than Mauer doing any of the 3. Mauer's bat speed is gone. He is striking out all the time... He can't catch up to pitches he used to be able to. Argue all you want. I am going to laugh at you when Vmart is hitting near .300 next year and Mauer is hitting closer to .200.

Vmart's upside is 100 times that of Mauer's. Even at his age.. he doesn't strike out.. and he will hit 20+ HR if he stays away from the offseason training program that keeps ripping his knees up. Mauer won't hit 20+ Hr for the rest of his career let alone next year. Mauer strikes out all the time now. He is finished. Joe Mauer's K rate was 13th worst in the MLB..

will bet Mauer hits more than 20 hr in the rest of his career, there Doug Sr

Mauer had 112 ks in 666 abs, 16.8%, good enough to place him 79th worst in MLB...thought you were gone for awhile, thanks for bring back the "made up stats"

good gawd
