Look on the bright side. This last outing by Fien could mean management looks to add a reliever, or at the very least, decides Casey is not ready to pitch major league baseball anymore...

The issue is we should already have added a reliever and we have a lot of guy not ready.

What's the use having May in the pen if you won't let him try and win you games?

KC's rotation is the same as last year, Det had 3 Cy Youngers and got booted early. Its obviously not about best rotation. Its about the team who plays together the best in all areas.

To be fair, he's nothing particularly impressive this year. Volquez replaces 60% of his production at 25% of the time and effort, and most will be happy.

you can also look at KC's record last year at this point to this years. You see the point, Det has had a stacked rotation, just to watch the games given away. Doesn't help to win for 7 innings and lose for the last 2.

Being happy with 60% of an aces production doesn't make it the same though.

Volquez pitches less innings. With less Ks and a higher ERA and WHIP. The innings drop off being the most important. And what I based my post from several days ago off. An excellent bullpen is great, but 40-50 extra innings of work will matter.

Is it if the remaining monies are reinvested to say Morales and Madson? Food for thought. The Rios deal sucks out loud, but they have kind of hit jackpot on a lot of these signings for the most part.
