The Middle of Everywhere: NWI
Brandon Knight, PG, Milwaukee Bucks – LOL at the fantasy basketball magazine that claimed Knight would lose minutes to Kendall Marshall this season since he wasn’t a “true” point. Apparently those that pad their assist numbers on lousy teams are attractive to fantasy editors, as what Marshall did with the Lakers last season. Meanwhile, Knight has elite scoring instincts, especially at the point guard position. A real old school ballplayer. And now under Jason Kidd’s tutelage, he’s now learning when to make the right pass. If you could get past the missed layup in Brooklyn, this guy is legit.
Anthony Morrow, SG, Oklahoma City Thunder (shown above previously with Atlanta) – One of the game’s best long-range shooters, but that’s not the extent of his game. Morrow also possesses a quality mid-range game. He scored 28 points in OKC’s big road win in Boston on Nov. 12. He’s not the greatest athlete in the world and doesn’t get assists, which limits his upside in fantasy, but Morrow is just the Sam Presti-kind of find for the Thunder. Presti and Toronto’s Massai Ujiri are the two best GM’s in basketball right now. Whoever is third is a distant third.
Andrew Bogut, C, Golden State Warriors – Bogut is the reason the jump-shooting Warriors are elite defensively. Annoying injuries aside, he’s the best defensive anchor is basketball with the exception of maybe Roy Hibbert. It was good to see Bogut last in 67 games last season, averaging 7. 3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Now if only he could stay healthy when it matters most.
