A few things have come across here in the past few hours.

As we all know, Mizzou is gone from the big 12 (likely headed to the SEC).

Well, a lot of chatter is goof on that Houston may be the next domino to fall and they have given their board the right to seek other conference affiliations.

In addition, it looks like the Big 12 may be looking at putting together a Big 12 network to add some stability. I am not sure how it will affect the LHN or who they are talking with but will retweet whatever comes across (@VPIMikhalis27).

Could we end up with 5 superconferences? It would leave more teams in which is good!

A Big 12 network really doesn't affect the LHN all that much. The Big 12 owns 1st and 2nd tier rights, LHN is all 3rd tier. The extreme overreaction to the LHN has been nothing short of epically comical.

The word around Austin is that WVU or Louisville are the top replacement targets for the Big 12 for Mizzou

Houston to BE?

Why do teams keep considering this conference when there viability as a BCS conference is done....

The schools under consideration might keep the BCS its AQ status

Assuming we even HAVE AQ's after this cycle.
Why consider it? The TV money. Way better than either the MWC or CUSa

AQ status??? I see that going completely away after this cycle. They will allow the bowls to pick from a pool of 14, 16 or 20 and there will be NO AQ conferences. That would make the big 4 conferences and the bowls very happy.

Rose would be able to select PAC/Big 10
Sugar SEC vs Big 10 or 12
Orange the same
Fiesta would take Big12 vs...PAC or Big 10 or SEC or maybe someone else.

It would all but eliminate teams from the BE and middies (damn them all) with an occasional ACC team.

So many folks keep jonesing about AQ when IMO it simply goes away. And the lawsuits with it.

If that happens and the ACC lets UConn in, why would any up and coming team want to hitch their wagon to that dumpster fire. Their entire BCS history would be gone. LEARN FROM TCU PEOPLE!!!!

The abortion known as the MWC merge with CUSA is even worse.

LEARN from history

Very True.

BCS Bowls right now are basically playing the "Pick everyone ahead of the Big East champ Game"

The ACC is second because lets be honest, how many fans travel in that conference?

Clemson,VaTech and FSU(maybe)?

How is that learning from history? It is history repeated. The BCS is not going to get rid of auto bids, especially autobids from a conference with FSU, Miami, VT, etc...

If Houston, Boise, Navy etc... Are the replacements for all the curren and historically relevant teams in the BE, it ends up as a net loss.

The ACC will never go away. Never(as it presently stands)

The Big XII is the only one of the Top 5 that actually has a shot at falling apart.

Yup. The ACC is too solid across the board. Only the Big Ten can compete with the school endowments, relevance and cross sport impact.

Well, the Pac-12 is damn good as well.

Those California schools are mighty powerful academically and athletically.

The top ends are similar but the fall off to Oregon State, Washington State, Utah and Arizona State is a lot worse than the bottom of the other two.

ACC could easily become unstable. The SEC won't consider Clemson, FSU, or Miami but if the SEC did ever decide to add those teams, I think they would jump at the opportunity. ACC would then lose a big part of their football arm in a league that has very few football powers. It would become Big East part 2 with mostly bball schools. I think the ACC isn't as strong as you would think. B1G, SEC, and Pac12 are the only strong solid leagues out there.
