I don't mind dead space...I mind dead space that you know will be dead on a 32 year old DT with one good season to his name while we are a 3 win team.

Believe it or not I can respect that. How ever on the flip side. If we hit another 3-13 season and dont have the dead space we are in a worse off situation. We needed to improve the pass rush. Hatcher does that. All while also hurting a Division rival in the process. Also the only way he becomes dead space is if he cant live up to the contract. If having him on the team produces a better pass rush over the next 3 years, I think its well worth the $2.25 million in dead space in 2017 at this point.

It appears to be a 2 year contract unless he is outstanding. It's not a bad contract. I don't know if Allen is a good talent evaluator but he is an excellent contract guy.

He is another guy signed from a bad defense for whatever that means, muck like Orakpo. He did have more sacks in the NFC East last year than Orakpo has had in his career which says a lot about Orakpo. Brian is more the 4 sack versus Oakland kind of guy. Hopefully that will change.

Do you think he will earn his contract in DC? Just answer that.

I think he will stay healthy, improve our pass rush and thus improve our defense as a whole. So yes actually i do think he will earn his contract. Why are you so convinced he wont?

Is he going to start or just bring him out on'couple of plays. I see him as a 3rd n 10 pass rusher not every down player

Coach... not a chance in hell dude. Hatcher will be starting at DE. Figure you will have a starting line of Hatcher, Coefield and Baker. Bowen will backup Hatcher, Neild will backup Coefield, and Jenkins and Geathers will be backing up Baker.

Right now our seven D-lineman

Coefield, Bowen, Hatcher, Baker, Jenkins, Neild and Geathers.

I definitely think he will improve our defense this year and play almost every down...occasional rest.

There is no way in hell I see him being here for 4 years. He's 32 and his body will not allow him to compete here making 7 mil in 4 seasons.

Agreed. But in that case, the deal is actually 3 years $20 million. Or $6.66 million per year on average. We end up swallowing $2.25 million as dead space in 2017. Considering Peppers is two years older and just got $30 million fir three years, we could have done MUCH worse on this contract bro.

Hatcher will make other players better b/c of his pass rush skills. The deal is actually fair in the first 2 years of the contract. Shark you think Baker is going to beat out Bowen? Assuming Bowen is healthy. I don't think Baker beats out Jenkins to be honest with you. I thought Baker was a depth signing just in case we cut Bowen.

FYI A. Smith just signed with the Raiders for 2yrs at 9 million. So its 4.5 a season. If the Skins wanted to go the cheap route they would of signed him. BUt the extra 2 mil a season landed Hatcher and at this point has more talent. The front 7 is actually looking strong this year.

I think Baker does beat out Bowen and Jenkins. But that being said, i think Haslett is going to platoon these guys like Hockey lines in the third period. Lost of shifts in and out to keep every one fresh. Its also why I have us keeping seven D-lineman. the Nt rotation will be Coefield, Neild and Baker . the DE Rotations will Be Hatcher, Bowen, Jenkins, Baker and Geathers. Admittedly geathers is a bubble guy, but with his size if he can contribute even a little bit, that gives us a nast rotation and ALOT of beef on a three man front.

Smith is also smaller and more of a primary rush speed end in a 3-4. Hatcher has size and speed. So on those times when we need some one who can both rush and occupy a blocker, he is your guy. Liking the idea of putting Rak over Hatcher in our zero package.

I agree with your points on the d-line. So even if Tuitt is there at #34 we have to pass on him, right? When Bowen is healthy he is a force. I originally thought with the resigning of Baker and adding Hatcher it could be the end of Bowen. But I think he sticks around. His talent level is much better than any of our ends when healthy.

Dead wrong. While i have hope for geathers (his uncle was one of my favorites) if there is a stud D-lineman sitting there for us at 34, we got to snatch him up. If our D-line rotation is strong, it gives us more flexibility with the LBs, and can help cover for our rather pedestrian safety rotation. Now its not possible for us to carry eight D-lineman unless we go short some place else. But if tuit is as good as they say and he is there.. you run to the podium very quickly before you have a chance to out think yourself and do something stupid.

Tuitt is projected to be there when we pick. We need a starter at pick #34. With all of the DE that we signed you still draft Tuitt over Ward, Filo, Wr, or Moses if Penn isn't signed? No way!! If that happens than that would mean Bowen is not healthy and would be cut. No 3-4 team carries five DE's.

Geathers is a camp body, he has a shot if he beats out Neild that is it.

We have depth on our line, but not alot of youth. D-lineman wear down alot faster than O-lineman.

As far as Geathers being a camp body, you dont make camp body pickups within the first few days of free agency. these are the guys you think have a relatively decent chance of actually making roster.

As far as the 34th pick, its going to be the best player available at a position of need. As I said in another thread, Im not even looking at who we might get for another month.

Then Geathers has the inside edge on beating Nield for backup NT. Jenkins and Baker are considered youth on the dline. Jenkins was a 2nd round pick. So how is De a position of need if Bowen stays???? I would only agree with the tuitt pick if we cut bowen. Otherwise you have to draft OG, RT(If no Penn), S, and WR at #34. There is no ILB worth drafting at #34. Assuming Shaizer goes 1st round.

Its not technically. But it might come down to a BPA situation. If the best o-lineman on the board at 34 is not better than Tuitt grades out, you take Tuitt.

So if Tuitt grades out as a 80 and the best olineman grades out as a 79 you take Tuitt? With no intentions of cutting Bowen. No way.

If its that close, sure you take the olineman. But if Tuitt grades out at say an 85, and the best o-lineman, WR or S on OUR board grades at as a 70, then its a no brainer. You take Tuitt and work with it.
