Thats base salary. SO his cap hit would be base $1.5 plus prorate of $2.25 so his total cap hit for 2014 is $3.75 million. His total gauranteed is the ( million signing bonus, plus year one salary. So $10.5 guaranteed. Real questin becomes, how did they split up the remaining $17 million in base salaries?? My Guess would be


year two base of $3 million, cap hit of $5.25

Year Three Base of 5 MIllion, Cap hit of $7.25

Year four Base of $9 MIllion Cap hit of $11.25 with a cap savings of $6.75 million if he is cut. So yer four he wont see unless he isreworked or extended. Actually might not even see year three as we would save $500k by cutting him.

So real monry if those numbers are close, its a three year deal worth $18.5 or so. or $6.2 million per year.

Debatable. If he provides 6 sacks on the year and we get better over all pas rush, then yes. If he gets 3 sacks and our pass rush is still lacking.. no.

I got about half that. BUt also figure they are gonig to make a couple of moves with existing contracts of guys like Coefield, Bowen and Garcon if need be. Plus there is the whole Rak deal to consider. We get him on a long term deal and we likely cut his cap it in half for 2014.

Even if he plays the entire contract, it comes out to $6.8 million a year. Where it gets dicey is in his actual cap numbers. Thats what Im really waiting to see. Cause if its $6.8 a year, but year 4 has a cap hit of $11.25 million or more... it would be real hard to justify unless he was straight dominating in years 1-3. And by that I mean 10+ sacks and we have a top five defense consistently. In which case many around here will be lined up to kiss Hasletts arse.

Well Monty was cut, which is why I have us around $5.5 instead of $3.5 free. BUt also need to see numbers for Porter.
