Personally, I don’t really look at WAR for pitchers. I like K, K/9, WHIP, IP, BB/9... GO/FO is good too, but that gets a bit too micro.

Yeah I'm not big into pitcher WAR either because of the reason's LGH and I have discussed. BBref is too encompassing for me, and Fangraphs is too lacking.

To be honest though, you can't look at many stats and take it as an end-all-be-all. Every stat needs context supported by other stats. From ones as simple as WHIP, to ones as complex as SIERA.
