I’ll take itSmart for Detroit to bring in a righty for Flores, and he still got an RBI single!

Dude has a knack for RBIs this yearI’ll take it
And yet we still hear the bitching about the Wheeler trade. It isn’t only in one direction.Agreed, my comment was more for the 'we can never trade Luciano/Matos/some other prospect' crowd
Not from me we don't but yeah, people will complain no matter what they do or don't doAnd yet we still hear the bitching about the Wheeler trade. It isn’t only in one direction.
Wouldn't measuring by OPS be a better standard to evaluate the lineup? Sure, a guy hitting .285 looks better than a guy hitting .218 but what if their production is fairly close (not saying these two are but there can be more to a player's offensive value than average)?5-1 spots in the lineup today:
0-20 2 BB 4 K
oh for phuking TWENTY. Against a hack #5 starter.
Batting averages from our lineup:
.256
.218
.285
.259
.205
.161
.268
.172
.147
This just has to change.
Generational organization weakness. Never forget Carney’s parting words as he left the organization that all the hitters were just hackers and couldn’t be taught.5-1 spots in the lineup today:

One man against a machine. It helps when the org philosophy on hitting is consistent. I get the feeling that the hitting coaches in the minor leagues at that time essentially taught the hitters to hack, or at least didn't bother to teach them the way that Lansford was teaching. That has got to be frustrating for a major league coach to get guys to do something different than what the same org had taught them or did not bother to teach them.Generational organization weakness. Iirc, Carney was the hitting coach in ‘08??? Dunston was on the staff at about that point, I believe. One man against a machine. It helps when the org philosophy on hitting is consistent. Of course, I think that was the same team that had Shawon Dunston on the coaching staff and he was essentially teaching counter to what Lansford wanted. If I remember correctly, there was a quote from Dunston that was, in effect, to hack and patience is pathetic.
I suspect they will IL him for some mysterious reason and hope some time away from the day-to-day and a week or so in the minors can jumpstart him.LWJ is just about done. As soon as Jerar is back, I think he becomes #forevergiant

Jerar must have suffered some kind of setback because he's only played two games with Sacramento, on May 10th and 11th. Not appearing in a game in two weeks is not a good sign.LWJ is just about done. As soon as Jerar is back, I think he becomes #forevergiant

Patrick Bailey is the worst hitter on the team by OPS+ (41!). Do the Giants get a better hitting catcher and make Bailey the backup?Averaged just 2.2 runs per game over its last nine games.
Not going to cut it. Who gets tossed? Who gets added? Is it talent? Philosophy? Approach? Coaching? Or just a prolonged slump?
