I was wrong. I thought they burned his last option, but they didn’t (yet anyway). Now it makes a lot more sense to me.

It was a pretty cool story with Koss hitting his first home run and then trading a bat for it with some kid. Thrilling for both, I am sure. But you are right, Koss brings little added value to this lineup, and was a place holder. But hey, he hit a homer in the bigs! That's a good story for the kids and grandkids someday.
