I think Bochy finally realized the Giants are out of the playoff picture and are going to have a losing season.

Listened to a bit of the Dodgers-D'Backs game about 30 minutes ago. Greinke does not sound like he's got his good stuff in that game. Loud contact against him in the 3rd but the Dodgers pulled a Giant and scored 0 runs with the bases loaded and 1 out.

While tonight's win for the Padres was great for the Giants, it wasn't so much for the Padres. They lost ground on the 3rd and 4th picks and have Detroit right behind them. Texas, meanwhile, has the 8th pick as their worst spot and are just a half game from the 7th pick. This weekend will play a huge part in the 3rd through 8th order.

The Giants get within one game of the Blue Jays and put a game of space with the Twins and 1.5 games with the Mets. They are the only teams that could catch the Giants at this point. With their win, the Angels are too far ahead to catch the Giants.

The way the 1st three innings went, Greinke was looking like he was about to get shelled. But he was able to get key outs and settled down for his last three innings and the bullpen, which the Dodger announcers really wanted the Dodgers to get into, gave up only one baserunner the final three innings.

The Cardinals have to go through Chicago. Won't be easy. If the Giants can take 2 of 3 against the Dodgers, the Cardinals will need to do the same (since they hold the tie-breaker over the Dodgers) against the Cubs and the Rockies will need to win 2 of the next 4 against the Phillies and Nationals (since the Dodger hold the tie breaker).
