Game Thread: 07.21.24 - Trying not to be swept by the basement dwellers

Depends who else is available. His arm has not blown me away, so my gut says left. But than who do we put in right? I think I prefer Ramos in right over Matos, but I will trust the people who work with these two on a daily basis on drills to make that call.

Yaz is a bit of an infuriating hitter. He gets dead cold just about every season and then gets hot to put his season at average to slightly above average levels. Not sure we could replace him through free agency and Matos isn't showing he's ready yet. I'd be okay rolling into 2025 with an outfield of Ramos, Lee and Yastrzemski with Matos as the 4th guy. However, I expect the Giants to dig through the bargain outfield free agent bin again this offseason for either a starter or a 4th guy.

Apparently the longest HR hit in the league so far this year 478 feet. Colorado of course but still, longest for anyone.

Boy does Birdsong look like a high schooler.

But he pitches like a major leaguer. If we trade Snell he should be the 5th starter

Birdsong may be something special. Only one potch cost him. Good tp have something really bright in this sort of gloomy season ...

Makes the decision on how to handle the rotation even harder. How do you send down the rookie who outperformed the ace in Colorado?
