This team just keeps pulling out wins in spite of themselves (thinks to a nice bullpen).

Now on pace to go 90-72.

I know you all have been harping on hitting (or the lack thereof) recently but I've not been able to join you on that. I know hitting has been bad, but wow, looking at the OPS for the starting 9 today, it is pretty disgusting. First consider the rookies:
Sabol - .732
Bailey - .689
Matos - .649
Schmitt - .548
Diaz - .196 (!)

Sabol looks like the best of the bunch, but that is only because he hasn't slumped as badly as the rest of them. Ouch babe!

Then the veterans:
Wade - .827
Pederson - .792
Davis - .768
Conforto - .731
Pollock - .535

Okay, so Wade is still doing decently. Pederson, though, is in another one of his patented slumps. Its making his overpay really look like an overpay. And Davis, what happened to him?!!? He looked so good earlier this season. Now? Not so much. As least Conforto has been somewhat consistently mediocre.
Oh, wait, did I put a rookie in this group? Oh, no, that is no rookie. He's a the veteran FZ acquired in the trade deadline. He just looks like an over-matched rookie.
To be fair you skipped Flores. And Estrada is back soon. But it does have to improve.

This is the best bullpen I can remember the team having, ever. Is that enough in the modern game? We're gonna find out.

Woof got really lucky there...hit it so hard he couldn't get to 2nd base
Those are the weirdest hits. I remember Gallego hitting one of those in about ‘88 or ‘89 at the Coliseum (back when I was 60/40 Giants/A’s). It struck me that a guy as tiny as Gallego was could hit a ball hard enough to reach the OF wall let alone hit it hard enough to parent him from advancing to 2B.

I was just looking at the guys who played today. And Estrada's hitting wasn't exactly good when he got injured. He had an OPS of .922 at the end of April. It was .673 from May 1st onward.

Speaking of Giants - A's I think I'm going to the game Saturday in Oakland. To see the Giants of course but also pay respects to that shitty venue and a team that's leaving. Been to some good baseball there including game 1 of the 2000 ALDS with Clemens pitching. We just walked right up and got a pretty good seat at the box office, for a playoff game, with Roger Clemens on the mound.

Very weird not playing on Friday, that's pretty rare.

Kapler in postgame saying Rogers should be fine, only a soft tissue thing, sore for a couple days.

Have fun.

Fridays off used to be unheard of. Seems to be coming more common these past few years (but still fairly rare. Strange that it even happens).

we went over for a red sox day game a few weeks back. maybe 12k fans in a huge ball park, but a lot of energy (seems like every other one was a school outing). pa announcer was fun, upper deck sunshine, beer and dogs just as expensive as oracle.

really enjoyed it even though the a's looked like a grown up version of the pre-buttermaker bad news bears

Do you speak for ALL the alts? Are all the alts your alts as you are tzill's alt? Is there an alt hierarchy? Is that my brain I smell burning?
All alts are created equal. But some alts are more equal than others.

17-16 in the last 33 games, scoring only 104 runs. Hopefully, the pitching will hold up if the offense can't start averaging more runs per game.images.jpg
