Except both Chapman and Miller get outs regardless of the K or not. Smith is all or nothing. If the batter isn't striking out, he's getting on base. I'd rather have a guy who gets two ground outs and a fly out then a guy who gives up a single, strikes out a batter, followed by a double, another strike out and then a home run. And with the production that comes from Smith, I'd rather try out Okert and some minor league pick ups then giving up a couple of prospects for an "underpaid" pitcher.

And what are the relative costs of these three relievers?

We'd all like to have a bullpen full of Chapmans and Millers.

I suspect you'll be a Smith fan by the time it's all said and done.
