It just sucks baseball introduced the new rule that as soon as you are trailing by a run after five innings, the game is automatically over.

Hardly "automatic," but with Wacha going for the Turds and Heston's bad outing, it feels poopy.

Interesting how Wacha has given up 6 hits and Heston has given up 4, and some look at that as a dominating outing by Wacha and a mound-shitting by Heston.

I don't understand some' logic on here all time...

To be fair, Wacha seems to be passing the eye test up until the 6th inning. Heston went 3 balls on quite a few hitters.

Still don't understand why Bochy is so willing to go to Affeldt in tight games.
Because the regular season is just a glorified pre-season.

If Affeldt can work through his issues, he will be a HUGE weapon in the post-season. If he doesn't, Boch needs to know that as well.

Pretty simple actually -- and you know which stat you are COMPLETELY IGNORING.

Hint: it rhymes with "pinnings itched"

<5 IP is a moundshit.

Its only a glorified pre-season if the team makes the playoffs. I would think that there would be more urgency to have the better guys out there with the game on the line. I'd rather see Affeldt string together 4 or 5 good outings in junk time before being thrown back into the pressure cooker.
With that said, Petit has only thrown 17 pitches in the game. I wouldn't mind seeing him go back out there for the 7th.

While its completely and totally different than the playoffs, no manager plays to get into a Wild Card spot.

Wacha with a PQS of 5 (dominant); Heston with a PQS of 0 (disaster).

And yet you continue to shat EVERY game. That is why you are becoming white noise.

For example, Blanco bunt was :L worthy, no doubt, but to say he is a worthless bunter? That is simply not true. The MVP of the league will have 60% worthless ABs, Blanco is allowed one every once in a while.

sure, but it was a worthless bunt. It was awful, in a tight situation. My post is my :L

While I don't Heston's start was horrible, I don't think it was that great either. He minimized the damage to the 1 run on the home run by Molina but it would have been nice if he made quick work of more Cardinal hitters and shortened the amount of innings the bullpen now has to work.

Agreed. It was bad execution, and not smart baseball to even try a bunt in that situation. A real brain-fart on Blanco's part. But you can't come to a conclusion on that situation.

Anyway, this is definitely a tz-approved game so far. True torture. :)
