Seven years of mediocrity

Seven years of incompetent general managing

Seven years of bumbling goaltenders

Seven years of no heart

And most importantly, seven years of no playoffs for Leafs fans. Every other team in the NHL has now made it since the lockout except for us. Even Columbus...COLUMBUS.

But hey, as long as MLSE makes money, who gives a fuck. Right guys?

Leaf fans need to organize a boycott on attendance until they fire the GM. Pure and simple - if the product blows, fans need to vote with their wallet.

It sucks.

I hate the Leafs (as you know), but I want them to be competitive because it makes the rivalry that much better.

They need to fully REBUILD, IMO. They need a true #1 C, a true # 1 D and a true #1 G. That is a rebuild to me and if Burke can't see that, and act accordingly, then he needs to be fired.

What gets me about this whole thing is not just the losing , it's just the fact that, and I know I will come off as bitter here, but teams in places like Nashville, Florida and especially Phoenix who don't even have an owner, know how to build a playoff team and we are still floundering horribly.

But if you do that in Pittsburgh you are all bandwagoners and should have your team moved because you never had a fanbase.

I hear what you're saying, particularly about Phoenix.

The others though are more of a condemnation of the Leafs. These poor teams that can't spend year after year are playoff teams.

The whole Leafs franchise needs a collective look in the mirror and it might have to start with the fan.

Nobody doubts the fanhood of Leafs' fans, unlike places like Washington and Pittsburgh, which while having a solid core of hockey fans, are more football cities than hockey towns.

What the hell happened to Joe Colborne? Wasn't he supposed to be the next center for you guys? Burke has had no luck with prospects in Toronto...

The Leafs would've been a playoff team this year if they had a goaltender. That's usually what I think about the Leafs after I analyze their team just about every year.

They were 6th in the East in goals scored per game so that's pretty good.

It's basically the same thing.

This is why I was so pissed with the Panthers drought.

It's much more difficult to make the playoffs in baseball.

Half the teams get a playoff berth in hockey. There's really no excuse to be so bad for so long.

But the Pirates haven't even cracked .500 in 19 years...

19 years! :tsk:

Yes. But there is no salary cap and floor in MLB.

Only one of the reasons why MLB is the worst spectator sport possible.

The primary reason is the generally boring nature of baseball.

You watch your mouth!

And the lack of a salary cap isn't the problem with the Pirates. They were poorly managed during those 19 years. You can win in baseball without spending huge amounts of money if you're smart about how you do it. The Athletics did it, the Twins have done it, and the Rays are doing it now.

You guys really have it tough, I mean such a good fan base and having to deal with that shit for another year. From an outsiders perspective I see a few problems with the Leafs.

1. It's hard to get top tier FA's when you're not making the playoffs.
2. You can't get top draft picks and franchise players by finishing middle of the pack.
3. You have too much $ tied up in garbage players like Connolly and Komisarek.
4. Your GM runs his mouth entirely too much making you look like idiots & for some strange reason he assumes that every canadian born player wants to play in Toronto.
5. You need an established G or at the very least a good veteran to mentor Reimer.

I'm sure all these things have been discussed by you, but I just figured I'd throw what I saw out there. You do have a good foundation though as Recon said so I can't see it continuing for much longer.

Relax BUDD.

It could be worse. My team has accomplished the unthinkable. 5 CONSECUTIVE top 5 picks.:L

At one time their were thoughts of The DRIVE for Five.
No they've outdone themselves with The DIVE for Five.

Doesn't matter, really.
Sometimes not being able to spend money is a blessing in disguise if you have people who know what they're doing.
