Is that really a thing? Other teams make the playoffs year in and year out. It ain't that. It's injuries, Timmy losing it, Vogelsong regressing, etc. I thought we'd make the playoffs and then probably lose there because it's a crapshoot, but instead we probably don't go. Same result. And gets Sabean moving too...he didn't change ANYTHING significant from last year.

You might be onto something with Cain though, he's supposed to be a 'horse' but pitching like his arm is tired all year.

I know you don't sit your "ace" but Cain has struggled to be our ace this year. Obviously this is my no managing experience-hindsight but maybe skipping him would have been smarter

Yeah maybe, who knows. You can't fault them for rolling the same WS winning team out there and playing it straight, but when the book is written on this season we'll probably look back and say Cain was tired, injuries killed us, and a couple guys just didn't perform to expectations (Panda, Vogelsong, Belt?)

Nobody ever could have predicted this. Injuries played a small role but big names struggling really killed us, and it was just a failure in all 3 aspects (pitching, hitting, defense)

I know people won't like this being said but at least in a very strong draft next year we could have a good pick. Our farm system needs serious help, so it would be a boost.

I don't mind saying it...if we're gonna fail, might as well fail big, not trade away prospects to just fail anyway (2011), etc. We aren't entitled to a WS title every year.

The injuries were bigger than you say though, Marco said it well in another thread, we had our 1-2-3 hitters out for a while and the 3 hitter is back but might as well not be. Backups, relievers, starters, starting pitchers, we've lost multiple guys in all those areas. It's legit. Not an 'excuse' but it's a fact.
