I'm done. Good night

Yeah me too. I'm officially done for 2013 too. I might be surprised but my default setting is now 'not gonna happen this year'. Until today I still kinda thought we had a chance, hence my constant posts about trades etc.

ANd as others have pointed out, it's not that big a deal. 2 rings in 3 years and it's not life and death every year.

We need a major internal shake-up. Not a trade, but a move that will piss some people off. Bench Panda. Fire the hitting instructor. Reassign Righetti. Something strong like that.

This is ridiculous. We can't be this bad. Nobody can.

time to start rebuilding. key members of the team are sucking really bad. they have lost their arms by pitching way too much and late in the season with world series runs.

We don't need a total teardown/blowup like you were calling for but I now agree it's time to give up on 2013, build for 2014.

It is early to white-flag it, but if we are not out of the funk by the break, we need to shop the pieces we have (Pence, Panda, Romo, Affeldt, Gaudin)...

Hitting coach can go, or not, they really don't matter much. RIghetti no.
Panda should be benched to send a message about his weight, so he can get it together for 2014. Moves need to be made for next year not this one.

We should be sellers not buyers...decide if you are going to really make an offer that Pence will take, otherwise deal him. Deal Timmy if anyone will bite.

Yes I know just earlier I was going on at length about how to make us better this year, and now after one (more) shit game I'm reversing but I'm sticking to this, the final straw and whatnot.

Romo? Who's our closer next year?
Panda...we can give him one more year then deal him in 2014 if he doesn't get it together....we CAN bench him this year since we no longer need to try to win in 2013. It may be early but I'm white flagging.

My only guess is that those games in Toronto just broke this teams spirit.

I don't understand it though, if being down 0-2 to the Reds or 1-3 to the Cards didn't break their spirits, how can two Bad News Bears performances do it?

By the way I wouldn't change my mind even if we win tonight 11-9. Cain really was the final straw for me tonight.

Maybe it was that but it's more mundane: injuries, Cain's tired arm (and big contract? hate to say that but it's a thing...), some regressions.

Romo is good, but he isn't a closer. He is putting up good numbers right now, but the crappiness of the team has hidden his lack of durability. Trade him now at the height of his value. We may be able to get a legit blue-chipper for him. He would instantly be the cream of the bully market, replacing Crain and Cishek.

Going to stop writing about the Giants (had 2 articles in the works) just far too hard while being this emotionally attached to the team and see them struggling.

Still will love this team and watch every game (that I can) but going to start watching and writing about the Pirates

This is true, and maybe he's not a closer, but then who's ours next year? I'm still thinking we can compete in 2014 but you need a legit closer. Not ready to call for a total teardown while we groom one. FA closers are almost always really overpriced.

Good idea. FOr me, it's not that hard to give up on the year, because of the last 3, and because we have a core we can keep building around. If we hadn't won recently I'd be a lot more devastated.

Hembree and Osich are both closers in the minors. Osich has started a fast track this year. We also have KCYa. If we make good sales, there will be all new toys to play with.

You have said you want to be a journalist.

Serious question (yes, I am putting you to task)...

Are you a fan or a writer? You can't be both if your priority is writing.

You are either a writer/fan or a fanatic/blogger.

I suppose so, sure. I still respect Sabean a ton, I think if he decides to play for 2014 he'll make smart moves and perhaps dealing Sergio is one of them

I tend to write more generic topics. IMO I don't let bias really style my writing. But I get what you are saying. My main issue really is just tweeting out emotions. When I actually get to writing I think I do a nice job writing unbiased. I agree with what you are saying though. I do need to start separating myself from a devout fan to an unbiased writer who covers that sport/team with fairness, without emotion.

I thought it could not get any worse.

At home.

With our ace pitching.

The opening game of a series. Oops! Why is it so freaking hard to get these guys motivated to play the first game of a series? At home? Against our hated rivals? What the hell is Noggin doing?

We are dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. Did some one say, "roll over and play dead?"

Curse of the odd year, I suppose. We just keep getting worse. And teams are not just beating us. They are throwing us on the floor, and wiping their muddy shoes on our cold corpse. Losing is one thing. To lose an be thoroughly embarrassed and humiliated? :L
