Game Thread: 7/5 Champs @ Preseason Champs

I am not sure Scrabble is a good fit for the Giants. They already have 4 SPs definitely returning (barring trade) with at least 2 high-ceiling kids ready to compete for a spot in ST. If the FA SP is not a stud, I say look at OF, utility infield and MAYBE 1B with the FA money.

OK fair enough I just doubt Bum + Cain + Peavy + Heston + Beede/whomever is a world series rotation. Need 1 more legit #2 type. If not Samardj then another one. Apparently there are a ton of FA quality starters. They will have the funds for that plus another position of need.

Harper has a shot at a triple crown some day..if the Nats get a big time hitter to hit behind him in the line up...too many walks right now. A incredible talent.

Am I reading it correctly that the last week or so (on vacation cant see games) that there seems to be a bit different strike for (in favor) the other team and against the Giants "at times" in the most recent games.

Sure seems like it. That called third strike to Oxy was at least 6" too high, or more. The ump knew it, too, which is why he let Oxy stand there for a good long while and complain. Terrible umpiring. When will we get electronic balls and strikes? All we want is consistency.

I don't think so. Osich may have been squeezed and Lollis was given the Rockie treatment as well, but I think there have been just as many bad calls in our favor as there has been against us. We just notice the ones against us more.

You know I heard a guy on the radio talk about having the electronic strike zone where the Umpire wears a wrist band on his right wrist and left .It buzzes his right wrist for a strike and left for a ball. A hellava idea where it looks cool on TV like a regular game and the ump is not shown up

NO Crawford, are you kidding? Or Duffy. Belt sure. But why bother, like I said, a lot of FAs and the Giants will have some coin to spend: Cueto, Zimmerman, Samardjiza (I think he's a 2), and of course Barry Zito
