Without Herk .261/.326/.379, 3.47 runs per game

With Herk .290/.343/.438, 5.33 runs per game

Without Herk .260/.316/.407, 4.31 runs per game

We are a different team without Herk, and Aoki. And with suspect pitching, we are barely a .500 team. And we are playing crappy ball right now.

Every pitching change in the last two weeks seems to have been the wrong one. Starter left in one batter too long. Reliever comes in and gives up a homer (Greek tonight). JLo comes in and he gives up a run. FYWW seems tired and is not sharp.

And closing fast.....

I think we need to find a starter and a CF. Pagan is being used Waaaaaaay too much, but what else can we do with the other two starting OF down? If he is hurt, he needs more of a break.

Also, grand total of walks through the six game roadie? 7

:L

In order for us to get an impact player this year, we will need to give up Susac and/or Beede. No thanks.

I am OK with a Parra-type player, but his stock is at an all-time high right now. Why pay a starter-price at the deadline for a 4th OFer? He would probably cost something like Mejia. I am not OK with that.

We just need a healthy Pence and Aoki.....we won the World Series last year with Blanco in CF and Ishikawa/Perez as the primary LF down the stretch. If I am looking for any help, I'm looking for a lefty in the bully, and a starter, but certainly nothing that costs us Susac or Beede.

Hopefully we get have a winning home stand going into the break.......

A non-LOOGY lefty may be a decent target, but Osich is looking good (and has the pedigree and minor league history to back it up). Also, when JA gets back from the DL, maybe he will be fine. Reportedly he had some nagging injuries.

For a SP, we have 47 SPs as it is. We only need a 1 or 2, and those will cost Susac or Beede.

No balls in the zone were called strikes in either direction.

However, Vogey got 2 balls outside the zone called a strike while Zimmerman got 10 outside the zone called a strike. Granted, Zim threw 29 more pitches than Vogey, but percentage wise, that should mean that (statistically speaking) Vogey should have gotten 7 "gift calls" instead of the 2 he actually got.

Looking at pitch clumping, I don't really see any reason to account for the difference in calls. Both pitchers were using all quadrants of the zone, and both had pitches get away from them.

Maybe the Giants hitters would still have lost the game. But Cuzzi CLEARLY was a major factor in this game. Hopefully this will be used as a catalyst to get the buzzers put into play. I used to think it would happen within the next 20 years. Now I am more in the camp of thinking it will happen sometime in the next 5 years or so.

Looking at the relievers...

Washington

Thornton - 4 pitches, 2 called, both accurate
Carpenter - 6 pitches, 3 called, all accurate
Storen - 15 pitches, 9 called, all accurate

Giants

Lopez - 1 pitch, in play
Kontos - 21 pitches, 9 called, all accurate
Strickland - 13 pitches, 3 called, all accurate
Osich - 20 pitches, 9 called, 1 "gift" strike, rest accurate.

Watching Sports Center, I was reminded of the absolute BS checked-swing / no-help strike call.

Another BS call, so make that 11-2 in favor of Zim.

It's all good....odd numbered year guys....3 in 5. 2016 is gonna be sweet.
There was also a bit of a low point last year, if I remember correctly, so I'm not quite ready to rollover just yet. You know, IBWT, Sabey Sabes, and all that.

It's Bobby Evans, not Sabey Sabes this year, though I suspect SS has input.

How about this trade? Warriors sent David Lee to the 76ers, and the Philth send Cole Hammels to the Giants? The money works. boom!

Totally agree, we are still very much in the wild card hunt. Got to get our OFs back. I just hope they don't do anything stupid at the deadline. It's not imperative that we win this year, focus on the long term.

Last season, they were 20 games over .500 before the slide began with that Washington series at home. This year's high point so far has been 10 over after defeating ATL on 5/29, 12-21 since then. Positive news with the reports that Pence had a good BP session yesterday. Hopefully, they can at least stay in contention until the end.

The Giants bad run this year was not nearly as bad as the bad run from last year. They have been bad, but at no point have they been the worst team in the big (OK, over the last week, they are the worst team in the Bigs. You know what I mean...). Last year, for a good 6-8 weeks in the middle of the season, they were THE WORST TEAM IN MLB. What saved them was that the 6 week book-ends of that period, they were the best team in baseball.

About 3 more weeks of this will be similar to that bad stretch from last year, with only 12 wins in the last 5 weeks. They need to start winning now, with that rough schedule coming up in August.

Getting Pence back is huge. He has evolved into our leader. Posey and Bum may be better players, but Pence is the man. We don't need to make a trade and gut our pipeline. We just need some health.

Oh, yeah, getting Aoki back wouldn't hurt either.
